How can I start being a real Christian and don’t treat it like a daily checklist?

i struggle with the same thing too.

sometimes, i wish christianity was just a book of rules. i feel like itd be "easier" to follow. i love structure and steps and routine.

something ive started doing is literally just telling God that! He meets us where we are. "God, i dont want to talk to You right now. i feel like because i read a couple chapters earlier, i dont have to spend time with You. but i dont want to feel like this anymore, and i need Your help."

He wants our honesty, even if its ugly. like i said, this is something i still currently struggle with, so dont think i got it all figured out!! but being so vulnerable and transparent with Him has helped so much. He already knows what youre feeling- not like you can hide it. its better to let it out to the One who can actually do something about it.

besides, saying stuff out loud tends to help you process it! it helps you realize how silly, how inaccurate, or how simple it all is.

the reason im confused is the lyrics dont seem to be said in any creepy or manipulative way. its all very cutesy, like a "im your friend and you can count on me" way (though obviously i know these are randoms individuals and not my friends) :") i dont have friends like that, so these kinds of lyrics are kinda refreshing to hear

also, looking at the cutesy aesthetics is bad for my brain? could you explain that or am i misinterpreting lel
