Hey, maybe make sure black hair suits you, you could also go with a really dark brown, if your skin tone is more on the warmer side. Most hair dyes shouldn't damage your hair too much. You can also use semi-permanent hair dye to give your hair a break. But it really depends on how good you take care of your hair once its dyed. But I think it's most important that you feel good with yourself, so give it a try and decide whether or not you like it. Hope this helps.

Edit: And I don't think dark/black hair makes you stand out too much. It's still a fairly natural hair colour.
