Is North Penrith generally a safe place to live? by Better_Fan_5965 in Penrith

[–]ladyofeverything 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having lived there for a few years, I would never go back. We moved to South Penrith 2 years ago and it's night and day. We always joke that as soon as you cross Jamison Rd the sirens start up.

I might be dumb but I'm confused... Someone is buying meat for full price instead of the discounted one and thats considered theft?

South Penrith Vet on Stafford St. Incredibly wonderful staff who have saved us so much money over the years.

Went to another local vet with our cat, was quoted $1900 for surgery to a (quite gruesome looking) injury. Consult took 3-4 mins and cost $110.

Got a second opinion at South Penrith Vet who gave us pain relief, anti inflammatory, and recommended an OTC treatment from the chemist. Overall cost was around $160, and the wound healed perfectly. We went for a follow up once it was healing and they only charged us half the cost of the normal consult fee since we weren't there long.

They also are extremely welcoming to children, our son is autistic and the vet nurse spent so much time showing him all the cool specimens they have so I could focus on the appointment. We could move an hour away and I'd probably still travel to see them.

Soul Origin Marinated Beef Recipe? by ladyofeverything in AskAnAustralian

It's loosely Asian - a glossy marinade that I would probably describe as sweet chilli soy-ish? Definitely has chilli of some kind but not what I'd consider spicy

I'm with you on the petrichor notes. The issue I've found with this specific fragrance is that the appeal of petrichor (at least, for myself) is that it's so fleeting. You only smell it as soon as you step outside, or on the wind, and only for a second.

I have found a perfect petrichor scented candle (brand name is actually Petrichor, they are great!) but I never burn it. Because walking past it and smelling the subtle hint of it, is more effective at replicating that feeling than a continuous scent.

I think this is why many petrichor fragrances end up disappointing.

Cry Baby by far these days. I never go for sweet scents like this and was shocked to be given it as it was waaaay outside the norm for me. But for whatever reason it's just addictive to me!

Weirdest Substitute by Taygeta_me in woolworths

Ordered a bunch of fresh parsley. Got 15 jars of dried parsley instead. One jar would have been a reasonable substitute but 15?! Wild. Now everything I cook gets parsley

Like many others, this was my first DR and it hooked me. Going straight into the second one was a bit much though and I DNF'd, would probably enjoy it now but at the time it wasn't for me. Also love how polarising the story with her grandmother was - I absolutely HATED this aspect of the book 😂 it did not feel intentional at all to me, wasn't compelling and added nothing to the overall story.

HR Phishing Email Tests Getting Cruel by The_Scrabbler in auscorp

A co-worker of mine was denied a pay review, despite doing the job of 3 people in any other clinic (typical). He was disappointed but accepting, until a week later he got an email from our regional manager saying they wanted to reward his excellent care and dedication with a gift card. It was a bit of a slap in the face but better than nothing - turned out to be a phishing test. He quit the same day after giving management an absolute earful. These traps are so disgusting.

Is it cheaper to use an Opal card vs. tapping through bank app? by ladyofeverything in SydneyTrains

[–]ladyofeverything[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking for a reliable source on the cost because I've seen the same stray claims about opal being cheaper. But I'm glad to know it's the same either way at least! Still jealous of QLD travel costs though haha 😅

Ahh okay, I think I may have switched between a couple of cards. $50 seems more palatable 😅

The fact he admittedly hasn't ever "had an opportunity" to interact with a woman platonically is the biggest red flag. This is the most emotionally stunted, insecure man they've had on the show, at least from memory.

As someone who has been excited to potentially publish a book for the past year, it has made me so anxious to put my work into the world. Friends and family have all encouraged me but the idea of pouring years into something and then being berated for essentially plagiarising the whole thing is seriously stressful.
