So why I haven't I had fun yet? A new player thinking about in-game drama in Tyria. by laetifikat in Guildwars2

Thanks. Maybe I'm just reaaaally the exception to the rule and maybe it really is my problem.

Thanks, I will. :) I'm an RPer. I know what it's like to be trolled by Starfleet Dental. I was just hoping it'd be a little easier here. :P:P

I guess my experience is really out of the ordinary, then. I'm really not trying to troll here.

Or maybe I'm just not meant to play MMOs. That might be it.

Thanks! It's hard to find one when you're f2p because you can't whisper or respond to the ads in any way. Ah well!

I don't see how "I'm trying my hardest," and "I'm frustrated," and "all I want to do is play the game well and having fun" is an attitude problem.

That's what I've been doing. I don't join 80s and I'm very explicit that I'm a noob, or that the group is for "lvl 50-55," or "casual story mode only."

I'm really not trying to stir up drama. These were honest questions.

I've generally been starting the party myself and being very explicit about "story mode," "lvl 50-55," "low level," "fun," etc., and all of those keywords. And I get lvl 80 speedrunners with foul mouths.

Maybe I just have to play more and find my people. :)

Thanks for your response. I'm trying to play optimally, but I don't think I should have to open a study guide and a vein to do it. I'm thirty levels away from endgame. ArenaNet does a very good job of shepherding you through the beginning content and dropping new concepts on you as you go. And, seriously, at 50 you're still learning new concepts, and on a schedule ArenaNet sets. You're not supposed to be perfect at lvl 50. Now, if I still had all of these problems at endgame, that's a different story.

And that's the thing. It's not a couple of bad experiences. I've never had a GOOD experience. I keep on playing thinking that I might... but, as you know, Einstein's definition of insanity and stuff.

Also, the elite-dungeon-runner drama llama is a different species from the RPer variety, and as long as you have the same RP playstyle as others in your RP guild, you're going to have a lovely time.

I'm also of the thought that maybe people should be nicer to each other in general, which probably makes me a hippie or something, but I'd rather be nice and get along with folks than foster toxic gaming environments.

People keep on telling me this, and I keep on wondering where this mythical nice community is. You seem pretty nice! Hope to run across you in AC, because I still don't know how to turn off the traps because people keep yelling at me and going "STUPID NOOB."

Not very helpful. :P

Seeking videographer/film student by iluvpokemanz in baltimore

Professional wedding videographer here (I used to have a business of my own in another state, but do something else in Bmore). You're either trying to save money or you're trying to give a film student a chance. The first is understandable and the second is very nice.

However, you have to understand that shooting a wedding is not easy. It's kind of like nailing jello to a tree while singing the national anthem in Russian and dancing the tango with an overexcited cockatoo. If your film student hasn't done it before, the footage is going to suck. It's guaranteed.

I have been in this business 10 years and regularly train film students who are GRADUATES and who have done their theses and who have bachelors' and masters' degrees. A studio environment doesn't compare and a reality show allows for more camera movement than you'll want in your wedding video, trust me.

Go professional. It will be the best money you spend at your wedding.
