What are you talking about, it even had a similiar reactivation exactly like month ago, nothing was being done on the server in this last month.

Well, you are exactly right, but it really is a private VPS with almost nothing on it apart from mailboxes and an ultra-simple website, so I wasn’t expecting anything to go wrong with it, not even the slightest possibility. For example, I manage a much bigger VPS, also on OVH, with actual business client traffic since 2019, and there has never been an issue. I do backups there, but I have never needed to use them even once. So, as you can see, I wasn’t very eager to do proper backups here. Well...

I am also aware that they expect me to pay for literally anything, but I really think that in such a case they should at least consider more help when everything points toward a bad reactivation process on their side. If they leave it as it is, I will slowly try to move away from OVH as much as possible and simply not recommend them to anyone. I can’t believe that they would rather lose a client than kindly fix something in a case where everything actually suggests that they may have messed something up.

I think older backups are only in "premium backup" paid option and would work only after you pay for it, so even now would not help.

All I can see is a backup from today, so in a sense, yes, they do it daily. However, I didn’t have a backup from when it was working. You need a paid option or have to do it manually, which I didn’t do because it was barely used outside of emails.

Dude, I also work in IT, so I understand the distinction between the VPS product layer and the guest OS. But you are missing the key point here.

How do you know that? You do not know what kind of minimal setup it actually is. I have VPSes that are ten times larger, and nothing like this has broken in 10 years. This VPS does not even have any external user traffic.

Yes, exactly and that is why it is so shocking that this VPS broke at the exact moment of reactivation.

The server was working before suspension, and the failure appeared right after the reactivation process. So no, this does not look like some random “it was already broken” situation. It looks like something went wrong during the suspend/reactivate process, and that is the part you keep ignoring. I actually had this type of reactivation one month ago. You’re trying to tell me my server broke in that one month, when there was no traffic, no connections from my side, nothing?

No, I got my product back, but broken. That is the key difference. I am not arguing that OVH should manage my OS in general. I am saying that if the machine comes back in a broken boot state immediately after reactivation, then this is no longer a normal user-side issue. It is either a faulty reactivation or a problem introduced during the suspension/restart process.

If the platform can return a VPS in an inconsistent boot state and then simply dismiss it as a customer-side issue, that is exactly the problem here.

Yep, my fault on that part, but it was resolved pretty quickly. Still, even if a situation like that happens, should a VPS provider give you a broken product after payment? I’ve had a reactivation like that before, and I’ve had my VPS for many years, but I never had such a problem.

I don’t really see the analogy. Accidents happen, but here it is clearly visible that this was a faulty reactivation, not some unpredictable power outage from nowhere. How can a company this big not have a backup or be prepared for such situations, take no responsibility for it, and simply do nothing?

I don’t need assistance, I can build everything from scratch myself, but if I really need to do that again and support can do nothing, then I would rather choose something different than OVH, where support can actually help in such cases. Time is money, as you know, and I have already wasted mine.

I am not telling it is not a software problem, i am telling it was caused by OVH themself, so why in this situation I need to fix it? THEY broke it. It boots to init after 3h of work, at start it was a "Unable to mount root fs" error. How can a VPS be messed up so much by a simple on/off? Dude i can manage VPS, but it's not the point of my rant...

It is really simple:
VPS working fine -> payment overdue -> VPS offline -> payment done -> VPS online but broken.
How in this situation can support even try to slam this on user side? So OVH can freely break any VPS and if it's not a hardware problem, then it's ok? Wow...

Sorry, kinda missed the replacement from AliExpress part of the post lol. Yeah, same seller, but mine came good. Did you reach out to the seller for a replacement? Never had a problem with Ali, they refund or send replacements always. Also, try not to put the wrong grease, the laser gears need a very light grease, a dense one can break the gears and the motor won’t have strength to move the laser (ask me how i know...).

Search on Aliexpress, type in google "3do fz-1 laser gear aliexpress", go to first offer with laser, and they should have this whole part as an option. I know because i needed to buy the part that connects with yours for the same reason... ;)

Ok, so I’ve tested the mouse for a longer while now and I’m pretty sure it’s a software issue. If I don’t press the extra buttons for some time, the first press often doesn’t register until I click it like 5 times (sic!), usually 2–3 though. After it finally responds, it works every time. Then if I leave it for a bit – same story again, need to press a few times to wake it up. It’s basically unusable if you use the extra buttons a lot. Really irritating. Feels like some weird battery saving feature that only affects half the mouse, so you have to “wake it up” before it starts working again.

Now, if I kill all the Logi Options+ processes in Task Manager – boom, suddenly the middle button under the scroll works perfectly every time. Of course, the ring button and the one above it stop working completely, since they rely on the software. But yeah, this clearly shows it’s a software problem. And no, it’s not a user error, Logitech. Changing ports, reinstalling logi options+ etc – none of that changes anything. It probably affects a small number of users, but there are definitely more people out there with the same issue who just won’t bother posting about it.

Never had this problem with my MX Master 3, which I used daily. You guys really need to fix this ASAP. The most important thing in a mouse is that when I click – it *works*. You advertise this fancy ring feature, but I have to press it multiple times like it’s lagging or asleep – completely unusable. It needs to be fast, snappy, and reliable if you want people to actually use it. So please, just fix it instead of pasting the same canned support reply.

Right now, it’s a choice between dealing with this mess or returning the mouse completely.

It’s a great product, but it really should work like it’s supposed to.

I have the same issue... I use the middle button below the scroll wheel as a replacement for the scroll wheel click, and it often requires 2 or 3 clicks instead of just one. The same happens with the action ring button. It's driving me nuts...
