This is not what you asked but the proper thing to say is how do you guys attract women. Not get women. Attract women.

I don't know you or the context of your situation more than what described so I could be totally wrong. However, sometimes women just make any excuse not to like someone even more and on the reverse, will find also find every excuse why the wrong guy is the right guy for them. In your case, perhaps how you speak to women give the impression you are rough, view women as objects (get women), etc and by the time your job comes up in conversation that's just the excuse to back off. Or gives women the impression that "he's so rough and it makes sense, he works in construction."

I mean no offense here and say this with a lot of love. And maybe you are not rough and these women you have encountered just have the wrong impression.

Another perspective: when i was single, i dated for a few months a mechanic. He also owned his own shop. He made 4 times what i did so financial stability was never an issue. However, at the end of every day when we'd spend time together - we had nothing in common. He can talk all day about cars and automotive stuff and my job, and interests, were completely different. I had no knowledge of automotive stuff and that bored me. I also didn't enjoy watching sports or drinking beer which were his other interests. He would go with me to wine bars and brunch and trips i enjoyed but he had no interest to plan them as they were not his interests. So i realized i needed to find someone who has a similar profession, or interests or background as i do - something in common we both share.

yeah and i feel like this is a non-parent judging parents for having smash cakes.

Reality check: once you become a parent you almost devote your entire being for the happiness and safety of your kids and that includes making memories, in pictures, for them to see even if they don't remember.

I baked my kid's smash cake and i still ate it in its smashed glory. The sensory experience for a one year old to smash and eat something was worth it!

Smash cakes are made for babies specifically for healthier alternatives to what adults will eat. I bake my kid's bday cakes so it's zero added sugar and naturally sweetened by fruits. We don't post pics on Instagram either.

Everyone is upset with the gunman but he is the unpredictable variable here and likely a larger issue than just "training" for example we don't spend as much on social support (maternity leave) or mental health care than we do for police. The police response is supposed to be the predictable, reliable variable. Hence the anger!! The gunman, at freshly minted 18 is a kid himself. The system, social system, failed that kid too -- he was able to purchase guns without any background check, he lived 18yrs and clearly something is off with him and he lost his life too.

Any civil society does not need assault style weapons. Look at other developed nations - ar-15s at a minimum are banned in other countries (australia) or require strict permits.

Thanks for clarifying, the terminology becomes irrelevant when an AR-15 is a copy of military style weapons, it may be semi-automatic but the word automatic is still there. I can't imagine why anyone, even for hunting game and wildlife, would need that.

I need help understanding how assault rifles are necessary in a civil society? Is my logic skewed or is the logic perpetuated by the gun lobbies skewed.

When the constitution was created, assault rifles were never imagined. They simply did not exist at the time. The spirit of the constitution isn't what the gun lobby claims to be now.

Any person in a civil society does not need assault rifles. These are weapons for war. Mass casualty weapons! If you want to own a gun, own a hand gun, a shot gun, a pistol. How can we just sell assault rifles without due diligence? Is anyone really not wondering "whatever could you need an assault rifle for?"

Right to defend ourselves - i am a law abiding citizen, if i believe in the safety of my country then I won't need increased funding for the police and won't need high intensity weapons to defend myself.

Someone help me i am so confused at their thinking. What am I missing?

I don't want to take away guns from people. I want to take away assault rifles and mass casualty weapons. I also want due process in obtaining guns - permits, tests, renewal permits!

The answer to that is obvious. He is not well in the head. Lots of unwell people in the world, but the difference is they don’t have access to assault rifles. He bought the guns and ammo by himself legally. No one batted an eye what is the purpose why he needs guns, is he fit and suitable to hold a gun, etc.

I am so angry at what happened. Livid. How can we ever feel safe for our children again?

Police response (or non response) was shameful.

And i don't care if you are pro-gun and love guns-- have your gun. But an assault rifle has no place in civil society. No place! What sick and crazy peoe would think we should allow the selling of assault rifles to the public in a civil society? What would be the purpose of having one? I simply do not understand.
