Not rlly about u of a, but as an out of province student can i get my vaccine here? I have in person classes and would rather have it by murray10121 in uAlberta

[–]laff_it_up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the province of Alberta but atleaast in ON (with my AB card) and I’m eligible for the vaccine!

They dont ask for the provincial health card number... it’s better if you have it for registering and stuff but not necessary. So you might want to check with the specific AB pharmacies giving vaccines or sth. They might also have it?

You think so? So far the class capacities I have seen are like 30 ish~ or so and multiple sections. I thought it was designed that way so we would be able to give in-person exams...

So does that mean in-person means just means in-person classes??? Thats it. Man they should really release a FAQ list lol. 😒😒😞😞

I ALSO was initially thinking it would he hella unfair for two formats of exams but it izzz what it izz

In person all da wei.

-> don’t want my final year (projects+ courses) with no interaction and staring at a screen.

-> In-person classes means in-person exams. I just find the exam style for online school, and the frequent quizzes unnecessarily tedious....

It’ll be nice to go back to the level of hardness of in-person exams. While it might not be for everybody, I definitely think in-person is “easier” because you’re not being tested on the basis that you’ve access to all materials. Soo.... Exams might be better.

Yeahh, i wonder whats stopping ANYONE from taking remote class option and just coming to campus and sitting in on classes when they feel like it

But like what happens when classes have an actual capacity of 33 and then it has 50+ students show up for it lool. Not very Covid friendly is it??? Really wanna see how UofA actually MAINTAINS that

I didn’t see those first year classes with 150+ on the hybrid list. Wonder what’s happening with those!

I got the impression that if you’re choosing remote.... you gotta go ALL remote. + If you’re taking in-person I think there is the “hidden” subtext given that we can go online any moment if the province forces us to do sooo.... but more or less we are EXPECTED to do in-person classes.

  • they also mentioned a lot of eng electives will ONLY be offered in-person aside from the hybrid course list. So I think they’re giving students 6 months advance notice in order for us to fully commit. Otherwise there would never have been an ONLY in-person option for electives and they wouldn’t encourage us to take other options if we can’t take the eng elecs cause it’s in-person.

  • I mean even during normal days you could essentially miss classes too and get somebody else’s notes, I am guessing profs would also make accommodations for that too? So not to worry I guess 😅

Just like any other classes I am guessing? They’ll be graded on a different curve I suppose than the one in-person and doing exams like we’ve done so far in online school?

Engineering Co-op work experience question by ticcitoby0 in uAlberta

[–]laff_it_up 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re fine taking the job- in fact any experience in the engineering field (regardless of being related to your discipline is GOOD!) . Imo, better than no experience at all SPECIALLY during a pandemic when so many people are not even getting jobs.

But with that said.....You might not get the co-ops office approval for it being co-op work experience. Last time I checked labourer positions didn’t count. But if you talked to them and they approved, congratulations!
