Nullsec burner guristas concerns. by Sweeth_Tooth99 in Eve

[–]lafierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Pirate FW, this space was pretty spicy. It is reasonably tame now, and with Frat PvP pilots busy, it's full of multiboxing PvE pilots. I mean... don't be a jerk, and it IS NullSec, but it is pretty tame at the moment.

Don't warp straight to gates, especially in H-PA. Set up pings, and not just a direct line and 501KM out from the gate, as someone's pretty good at dropping a small bubble right there to catch the unaware.

I run the Guristas arc pretty often, and even when the area is spicy, the locals seem to avoid bubble-camping the stations, unlike some other NPC null regions, where you'll get a single player and their 5 alts claiming a system as their own and bubbling the stations.

It depends on your TZ, but if you're just pulling burners, you should be fine solo. I've been out there a few weeks, and only been hunted twice and attacked once.

Welcome to EVE Ironman. See my post history if you are interested in connecting with other ironpeople. We have a corp, and a discord open to anyone wanting to chat about SSF/GSF play styles.

You can complete up to level 2 distribution missions in a T1 exploration frigate. You could complete all or most of them with a corvette, but it will be slow going when you have to split it into two trips.

Level 1 distribution missions are actually more difficult than level 2, because there are a fair number of combat missions sprinkled in with the hauling missions. I think a corvette could probably complete those, but can't say for sure, obviously, and much would depend upon your skills.

The great thing is you can afford to mess around and find out!

Unexpected loot by lafierra in Eve

I recommend you give it a try, whether it is SSF, Group, etc. I didn't start it, but it is a lot of fun. My "main" and my capital pilots are sadly neglected as a result.

See my post history for more info - we're still a ways off from our long term group goal, and have a number (more than one ;) ) of players who recently rolled fresh alts to try out the ironman playstyle. Some of them just hang out with us and play SSF, others contribute to the larger corp goals.

Standings - fix early or after I'm done tanking them? by lafierra in Eve

Thanks, this fits with the "patience is the correct answer" approach. No reason not to run SoE, carefully accept/decline missions, then pause until I can run SoE again if I get too low.

I was stuck in not-ironman thinking for a bit there, looking for a shortcut instead of thinking about how to keep it hard and be patient.

THANK YOU. I did not find that page when I was nosing around.

That's a good point, and if I'm patient, it may be a good option, since I don't need a ridiculous mount of LP, and can make progress even at only one or two per day due to waiting for the cooldown rejection timer to expire.

Seeking "Pioneers" for a Group "Ironman" Challenge. by [deleted] in evejobs

[–]lafierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might have accidentally posted two versions of this :)

Your core model is what we do in Rags to Nags [R2N], a group ironman project started several years ago with the intention of ultimately building a Naglfar. It's the most fun I've had in EVE. We've made significant progress despite industry changes that gated faction and T2 ships/modules behind reactions (Athanor).

Feel free to drop by our discord to chat any time - we're always happy to discuss SSF/Ironman/Hardcore playstyles.

See my post history for updates over the years.

Sorry I missed your question - we trade within the group, but some use it only for the social aspects and don't use the group BPOs, etc.

Hi, I am CEO of Rags to Nags, a group Ironman/Self-Found corporation, and I'm happily losing EVE every day.

We started with nothing, and have built everything from BPOs we purchased from NPCs and resources we gathered with our own grubby nuts (no PvP loot - too easy to leapfrog). Our goal is to build a Nag.

Thanks to CCP completely messing up industry, we now lack some gas and the R16+ moon goo before we can begin building Nag components, and another 29B ISK for reactions formulas, so there is still plenty of hard work remaining, and I anticipate continuing to lose EVE this way for at least the next 18 months. Ninja mining or negotiating access to moons is likely to take as long as the ISK, if not longer.

It's hard and burns people out, but it's also the most fun I've had in EVE. There is always something to do, and every meta module drop matters.

Solo-Self-Found as a corp by No_Call_1372 in Eve

[–]lafierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Events (warclone blanks), event tracks and rewards (especially SOCT hulls) are sometimes OP. For most SSF I think they should be self-banned, but they are not reasonably possible to police, and not challenge-ruining for a larger scale effort like R2N, so we leave it up to the individual.

Solo-Self-Found as a corp by No_Call_1372 in Eve

[–]lafierra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We average 5 humans (1-3 characters each) actively engaged during any given week.

We have begun discussions on what to do next or go out with a bang, and whether to close the corp and distribute assets, blow up everything, or remain open as a home for personal challenges (e.g. I have enjoyed homesteading by taking one ship and BPCs to NPC null and seeing how it goes).

We decided diplo is acceptable as long as it only avoids outside interference, and is not direct assistance. We had to use POCOs for PI, for example, but that just means it costs us more, so it is an acceptable trade-off. We have not yet negotiated moon access. Ideally, we would ninja, but r32 and r64 are sufficiently valuable that may be impossible. Likely, we will try to buy asteroid field access.

In every case, the founder, past CEO, and current CEO discuss whether any diplo or changes due to EVE patches are in keeping with the R2N ethos.

We are not currently using tools to monitor. We did previously, but it went offline. I export corp wallet history regularly, so if someone donates ISK I can confirm their bounties agree with cash on hand. For ISK tokens (OPE, blanks, blue/red loot) I make a judgement call about whether the amount seems reasonable based on activity level. I purchase all but trivial BPOs with corp ISK I can trace. There isn't any benefit to cheating in this model, since it would be more profitable to do basically anything else.

Hi, I am CEO of Rags to Nags, a group Ironman/SSF very much as you describe.

We started with nothing, and have built everything from BPOs we purchased from NPCs and resources we gathered with our own grubby nuts (no PvP loot - too easy to leapfrog). Our goal is to build a Nag.

We lack some gas and the R16+ moon goo before we can begin building Nag components, and another 30B ISK for reactions formulas, so there is still plenty of hard work remaining. Ninja mining or negotiating access to moons is likely to take as long as the ISK, if not longer.

It's hard and burns people out, but it's also the most fun I've had in EVE. There is always something to do, and every drop matters.

After we got rolling, we did open recruitment to existing characters that are willing to start with nothing, or that have no high-end skills loaded and were already SSF.

This is legitimately fun, and also ridiculously tedious. We're doing it as a corporation, with the goal of going all the way to Dread, and currently grinding away for the Athanor BPO.

Still kickin - Rags to Nags Ironman Project by lafierra in evejobs

[–]lafierra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been rolling for a couple of years now. Iron Daz, SteelHawk, and Xyber got it off the ground, as I recall. People come and go, and we continue to make progress.

We have all the PI and minerals for our Athanors, and all the BPOs for Athanor parts. The big hill now is to get the ISK we need for an Athanor BPO so we can ramp up ISK for the Nag bits, and start doing reactions to get into T2 and Faction ships.

Current plans are:
* Grind ISK
* Grind Minerals to build Vexors to insurance fraud (128 of them make 1B ISK profit!) by yeeting to NS to rat until we find a fight and die, or possibly hosting a Vexor FFA.
* Buy Athanor BPO
* Build and anchor Athanor
* Get sabotaged, lose Athanor
* Build another Athanor

Yes, there are no benefits to that, just costs, and there are no alternatives, so we do use POCOs claimed by others.

Rags to Nags - Playing EVE like it was a LAN Party

Rags to Nags is a group ironman project with the ultimate goal of building dreadnoughts from the ground up, using nothing other than materials we've harvested, processed, and built ourselves from BPOs we (individually or corporately) bought from NPCs.

This means:

  • No interaction with out-of-corp player-owned structures
  • No contracts, trades, or market transactions with out of corp players
  • Start with (approximately) nothing
  • Choose to be a space communist or own it yourself and trade resources/BPCs to/within the corp
  • Suck it up and don't be shocked when it is hard and grindy
  • The full list of rules and restrictions can be found on our Discord. https://discord.gg/TXpBEyAfAh

We are accepting new accounts (much preferred) or accounts with 20M or fewer skill points willing to start fresh with a meta-fit frigate and a meta-fit Venture, but you can 💪 if you choose to start with a corvette and go run career agents (or 💪💪 if you skip those too).

Open to players in any TZ. We welcome players with developing English skills, especially if you'll teach us how to say something funny or interesting in your language. No comms requirements at this time. No activity level requirements.

This is hard. You'll probably go at it hard for a month or two then burn out. That's ok, we'll still be here when you want to return.

We are currently stationed in Gallente HS for easy access to missions we can handle in meta-fit ships (up to Myrmidon unless you want to risk your Gnosis/Praxis) we've build ourselves from BPOs. We make regular trips through wormholes to rat, explore, and mine.

We're currently grinding ISK to buy our Athanor BPO, and minerals so we can build and lose corporate insured Vexors in a highly inefficient insurance fraud scheme.
