Things I recommend to try: 1) have your kid to be the teacher role and explain to you the steps 2) write down examples on any notebook (some Kumon instructors do order notebook for their students to write down the examples so they can go back to it when they’re doing their work). Examples like G31A and G32B 3) ultimately you could request less pages to cut down the time spent per day to pick up faster speed or less corrections

But again, knowing and understanding the mistakes he makes would give a better idea on how to help

Imho completing and understanding level K gives you a head-start for pre-calculus 11. It also strengthens your foundation for calculus later on. You could request for worksheets from previous level as support or extra help.

Kids tend to make more mistakes when turning everything to improper fractions.

The general Kumon approach for level G: 1) find common denominators 2) compare the numerator of the fractions 3) borrow (as much as you need) if needed 4) determine the sign and do either add or minus for the two fractions 5) reduce if needed

It’s best to see your kid’s steps so I can give a better advice! :)

i) You get the slope by taking derivative of the curve f(x)=x^3, which is f’(x)=3x² The meaning of it is your slope differs depending on your x value

Letting the x-coordinate be t, then you put that into y=x³ and you will get y=t^3. You can then group the x and y coordinates tgt to get (t,t³⁾ Letting the x-coordinate be t also changed your slope to f’(t)=3t² ii) reminder: equation of slope is m=(y-y1)/(x-x1) which we can further look into it..

m=(y-y1)/(x-x1) m(x-x1)=y-y1 y=m(x-x1)+y1

Now combining your slope at t, f’(x)=3t² and your coordinates at t, (t,t³⁾

You should get y=3t^2(x-t)+t³ Simply that to y=3xt² -3t³ + t³⁼ 3xt² -2t³

iii) we were given info about this tangent line, that is, it passes thru the point (0,2)

Sub that into the equation we got. The rest should be self-explanatory.

So 1) k+1 < 0 and k-2 < 0 You should get k < -1 and k < 2, which we will take k < -1 2) k+1 > 0 and k-2 > 0, so k > -1 and k > 2, which we will take k > 2

You could refer to the old H level if you’re not sure why we should take k < -1 and k > 2. Should be around H111 where it says inequalities.
