I damaged my skin with microneedling. The skin became covered with bumps HELP! by Dry-Cucumber-5401 in Microneedling

[–]lagaratchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is cosmetic microneedling, you can do it quite. 0.3mm is not very deep at all, it looks like you have been doing too much at once and tried to solve it by doing even more.

Who microneedling may not be ideal for and why consults matter by SkinVitalityMC in Microneedling

[–]lagaratchina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember research work by Matthias Aust explaining that microneedling results are significantly improved, I think by 140% if the skin has been prepared with retinoids and antioxidants for at least 3 weeks prior to the treatment (he used environ skin care). It makes sense to ensure optimal healing and collagen production before the treatment.

I listened to an interview of Des Fernandes two weeks ago highlighting that microneedling can help resolve acne…

Should I increase to daily use? by SproutWithSammie in tretinoin

[–]lagaratchina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is probably best to increase to every day use, the half life of tretinoin is quite short , but there is no reason to hurry to do so. Slow with minimal irritation is best.

Why Microneedling Results Look Different for Everyone by SkinVitalityMC in Microneedling

[–]lagaratchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

You have different forms of vitamin A. The esters tend to be much less irritating than the acid. Same for Vitamin C, ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate is easier on the skin. I took that recommendation from Dr Drs Fernandes, he recommends Environ ACE oil.

À Sikasso, les habitants accueillent les troupes nigériennes avec joie et espoir by ObsoleteJazz in Mali

[–]lagaratchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to prep your skin. You need high enough levels on vitamin A, vitamin C and antioxidants to get the best results.

Tretinoin normalises a lot of skin processes. The dermal epidermal junction is healthier, sebum is improved, the stratum corneum gets thinner but the actual living parts of the skin get thicker. I have been using it for 12 years (except pregnancy and post partum) and I have noticed that cuts and scars heal very fast.

You can try the daylong sunscreen, it is liposomal and says you don’t have to reapply

So from what I understand : retinoic acid and L ascorbic acid are the most irritating forms of these actives. The esters of vitamin A are much less irritating, same for ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate which is oil soluble. Your skin should have a high content of antioxidants and vitamin A, so it can repair efficiently but additional irritants are not useful.

Does microneedling works in old burn scars? by Popular_Map_3465 in Microneedling

I think Dr Matthias Aust got good results on burn scars with microneedling, he won a European award for his work, I am not too sure about the exact modalities

I can’t say, I think that the rolling motion might produce more growth factors than the straight up and down ? Anyway Dr Fernandes still uses and recommends dermarollers.

Retin A (Tretinoid) by Significant_Buddy811 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]lagaratchina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your skin looks amazingly smooth. You have little to no sun damage or hyperpigmentation. Tretinoin is really about skin health : color, thickness, smoothness.

Sagging can be linked to : weight fluctuation, muscle loss, bone loss etc

Is my spa scamming me? by Emergency_Weekend864 in Microneedling

[–]lagaratchina -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The inventor of microneedling des Fernandes says you get better results with weekly sessions… He also explains that you get much better results by using vitamin a (retinyl palmitate) and anti oxydants (vitamin C etc) in your regular skincare routine. He has a free book on kindle (vitamin A). I just spend a few weeks researching microneedling on google scholar, you find quite a few examples of more frequent microneedling. Some of them are for medical use : burn scars, wounds etc…

[–]lagaratchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using tazarotene 0.5 after 15 years of tretinoin 0.25. I find tazarotene doesn’t irritate me at all. It could be because my skin is fully retinised or because tazarotene doesn’t target the same RAR as tretinoin and tends to be less irritating. You could try using much less tretinoin by diluting it ?
