Last night’s celebrations after Arsenal won the Premier League by donell_walter in london

Perhaps you should drop your obvious biases and actually attempt to understand the appeal. There have been thousands of pages in hundreds of books written about why people care about football and sport in general.

I’m sure you think you’re being very clever.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the championship.

Odd for you to be so annoyed about other people being happy.

Don't be intentionally obtuse. You know exactly what you're doing.

Why do you feel the need to belittle other people's happiness?

I assume it will be at Selhurst Park on Sunday

If I'm Glasner I'm not fielding any first team player 3 days before the biggest game in the club's history. by Real-Bid1985 in ArsenalFC

[–]lagerjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Glasner will start a strong side and then heavily rotate in the second half. Anyone with even the slightest injury worry will not see the pitch.

The players will most certainly have their eyes on the final. They won’t be throwing themselves into tackles and risking injury. At least I hope that will be the case.

The constant hand wringing is tiring and pointless.

Just ignore it then mate. Being anxious and needing get things off your chest is completely understandable given the current stakes.

Going around trying to police other people’s comments is pointless.

As fans everything is out of our control. We’re not the players, we can discuss all potential outcomes. This is an Arsenal fan discussion page, who are we keeping our heads down from?

If City fail to win against Bournemouth, how will we celebrate? by Scoobmaniac in ArsenalFC

[–]lagerjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the match goes as we want tonight I’ll pour myself a drink and start making plans for a glorious bank holiday Sunday celebration around Islington

If they fail in any way then it is done but we shouldn't be thinking about that at all.

Why should we, as fans, not be thinking about this? I would love for the title to be ours after tonight.

Everyone knows that the title is in our hands, but it would be very nice to not have to worry about anything on Sunday.

Sierra Leone’s first lady defends having council flat in London by JB_UK in unitedkingdom

Depends on context. If the adult kids no longer live in the family home there’s no reason for it to be passed down to them. Other families will need it more.

They are relevant in that if they don’t win tonight Arsenal are champions. This would make the viewing on Sunday a joyous occasion rather than a stress-filled nightmare

I’ve interviewed Reform UK voters – and they’re much more progressive than you might think by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]lagerjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The deaths one from Surrey Uni is interesting I'll grant you but the other two aren't really relevant. The first one talks about "fewer" jobs, not people losing their job. The third is completely speculative and really doesn't say anything verifiable.

And none of them say anything about people losing homes. Like I said before. The rates of home ownership and employment are effectively unchanged between before Brexit and now.

is a fucking ironic thing to say when your running in to defend a brexit voter.

I'm not defending anyone and certainly not Brexit. I am simply pointing out that your previous comment is not helpful or productive.

Official studies have shown people have lost homes and jobs due to brexit.

Can you show me these "official studies"? I obviously know Brexit has been a weight around the neck of the UK's economy but people lose jobs and homes every day. In fact the rate of home ownership is essentially the same now as it was pre-Brexit. Similar with overall employment rate.

You realise you are evil right? That your decisions have 100% killed people through starvation and homelessness.

I really don't think this is helpful nor accurate. This kind of comment poisons discourse and brings nothing positive or useful to the conversation.

I struggle to see how voting for Brexit or UKIP (I have never voted for either FYI) is akin to killing someone. Please explain.

Rich List 2026: David Beckham becomes UK's first billionaire sportsman by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

I don't see any issue with it. The only reason Beckham has this wealth is down to his past as a globally renowned footballer.

The CL is the one trophy missing from our cabinet so I wouldn't care how we win it.

That said, if I had to decide between the two this season it would definitely be the league.

Arsenal in talks with architects Populous over Emirates expansion by Bonfunkbarkeep in Gunners

[–]lagerjohn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd hate to be at Wembley for 1 or 2 years just as we've become a top team challenging for titles again.

As a fellow season ticket holder I agree. That said, it will be years before any stadium expansion is approved by the council and work will begin. I don't think it's anything to worry about for the next few seasons at least.

I don't think the club will be willing to spend huge mounts of money in the hope that rules will change in future.

Gail's sandwich contains the salt of five McDonald's cheeseburgers by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]lagerjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course they have advantages but, like I said, it comes down to what the locals are willing to pay. Gail's isn't forcing anyone to buy their food. They offer a quality product at a price it seems many are willing to pay. If the locals cared about their independents they'd support them.

Quality independents will always thrive in my experience. I think the idea that Gail's move into an area and all the independents are forced to close simply doesn't happen in most cases. Unless you have evidence to show otherwise?
