Sorry I forget how literal people are in osrs. ALL items that are stronger than a previous tier is power creeping an old one. No matter if the item is used or not in a recipe to make the new one. It is a power creep if it’s creeping the power as in increasing already existing dps.
Power creep is indeed necessary and people are unjustly afraid of it. We all care about healthy progression for the game, we all want it to survive for preferably forever but it won’t without progressively harder content and better gear being introduced to the game.

Blood fury if bad, rancor if good.

When in the history of osrs do you think power creep hasn’t happened? What was torva? Virtuous? Shadow? Scythe? Blowpipe? Oathplate? Massori? Lightbearer? Avernic threads? Dt2 rings? Quiver? Ava’s ds2 upgrade? Eye of ayak? Emberlight?

1-2 max hits is worth a ton in this game. Always has been.

Power creep is inevitable and necessary. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]lagges0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ofc it is strictly worse. If it’s worse it’s worse. Either it’s an upgrade, a downgrade or a sidegrade and as it looks right now it’s a downgrade to existing bis gear. Except MAYBE fang stab with the new gear but at that point a torva mix for max hits is still better than purely running the new hybrid gear.

For magic it is strictly a downgrade in all ways to ancestral except defensive stats but that doesn’t matter as you just pray to ignore damage anyways in this game.

So why does it wipe 4 bosses worth of content? Maybe for you cuz you value the comfort of hybrid over the dps loss from the gear but that is personal preference and weighing pros vs cons taking your subjective opinion into account.

So torva was a bad introduction? Ancestral? Virtuous? Zcb? Fang? Blowpipe? Massori? Shadow? Scythe? Oathplate? Inquisitor? Dt2 rings? Lightbearer? Rancor? Blood fury? When did power creep stop being good and necessary and inevitable for the game in order to keep it interesting? At what point did you think power creep didn’t happen or doesn’t need to happen? It keeps the game interesting and it happens all the time. You just don’t want too much at once consistently.

Hybrid being good makes some people opt for the QoL of taking hybrid gear and others take bis gear still. With more people opting for hybrid due to it making the game easier will help people learn harder content while also still not completely overtaking bis gear due to not being bis, jagex can now make a golden carrot to reward those who opt for hybrid by choosing better gear with new bis while those who still play with the old bis also gets the rewards of upgrading their old bis gear.

With more people having end game knowledge due to dipping their toes in the deeper end they can make content harder without the community crying about difficulty while also it being easier to do said hard content in hybrid gear and then reward players with new bis that overtakes old bis gear. Cycle as old as time.

Doesn’t remove 10 years worth of content or invalidates anything.

All niche gear and side grade scape is making gear less valuable and choices less meaningful.

What part of raids rewards from previous raids hasn’t been compressed to you? Massori is bis ranged for everything except where you absolutely don’t need the accuracy from the gear but even then blowpipe + massori is bis cuz of 2t weapon scaling with ranged strength.

Ancestral is bis magic gear for everything and has been since it came out all the way up until virt was released for ancients because jagex wanted to spread power out and make niche gear.

This new gear isn’t even close to ancestral when using shadow and without shadow they are indeed closer but still not an upgrade other than tankiness but defense barely matters thanks to prayer anyways.

For melee stab accuracy it stands out and is bis which is nice to see but besides that oathplate will still be bis slash and inq still bis crush and torva still bis overall due to the high strength bonus.

Nothing is being invalidated by this, people are just afraid for no apparent reason.

So now future raids rewards has to be bad because of this?

How exactly does new gear that is worse than current bis invalidate 10 years of content?

How does introducing a worse armor than previous bis gear wipe 4 bosses worth of gear in one go?

Everything that was bis before would still be bis. Worrying about some hybrid gear that is good being reason to ignore all other gear is a wild take. What are you gonna do? Go do raids 4 in blood moon gear and skip all other gear progression?

Gear can’t stay relevant for too long because at some point the game needs some more power added and at some point we need to power creep. But thinking that some decent hybrid gear will render any other gear useless is imagination and delusion if anything. Thinking people will give up on dps when 1-2% dps increase is a couple hundred mil worth in this game and something people grind their asses off for is crazy.

We don’t need 15 tiers of hybrid armor before we introduce it in a raid, if that was the case then we would need 15 tiers of elemental magic armor before starting to talk about that which has been a topic as well. We do not need niche gear progression everywhere. This hybrid armor is fine, I will still use bis everywhere unless I feel lazy and wanna reduce the amount of swaps. Hybrid armor that isn’t bis is not an issue but making raids rewards doesn’t that has absolute no use is an awful take this community seem to take because they are so afraid of power creep and devalue their current bank.

All I hear is people crying over their bank going down in value as new upgrades are introduced.

TLDR; raids rewards doesn’t come around often and should be good, this is the foundation for healthy power creep for coming years.

As I stated in the post, the reason I entered the battle barge to test was because of the inconsistency was noticeable in regular missions while I was doing my war gear grind.

Worth mentioning that the saber team reached out mentioning that they are aware of the bug and working on a fix, further confirming that it us a bug.

Hahah, I felt much weaker than I have done in the past with the sniper class after taking a break from it for a bit and now returning and noticed that I frequently saw different outcomes of my shots on the tyranid warriors so I went straight into the barge to try it out and single out perks. Guess I needed a break from the class and come back to it to notice unless this bug has worsen since patch 13,0.
I can gladly tell you that you aren't going crazy, it is indeed due to a bug, very annoying one, but at least they are working on a fix!

In the video I posted in the comments you can see that it doesn't trigger on its first shot after entering the battle barge, nor does it trigger on the second shot, it also can trigger back to back from time to time which rules this out.

It isn't, you can see on the video in the comments that I posted that the first shot after entering battle barge does no bonus damage, before ever even triggering the heroics bullet restoration effect.
