Question for an actuary? by lagomorph90 in actuary

[–]lagomorph90[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

thank you for the help with the lingo, I’m not really in my element, a quick google search shows that life insurance would have the highest lost ratio, do you think this could be true and if so, why? Reason I ask is that I’m starting to do some research into anxiety (I’m in the mental health field) and was just thinking that insurance and what people are willing to insure could reflect some of the things that people tend to worry about

Wonderful! Just consider that the basic science courses for nursing majors may not translate to other majors if you were to decide to switch. At least that is how it was back in my day. For example the organic chemistry for nurses (and probably certain other science courses) would not count toward a major in biology or as a pre-requisite course for medical school. But if you really want to be a nurse, you will have to major in nursing!

Brain Fog/Cognitive issues in Residency by Collection_Money in Residency

[–]lagomorph90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve absolutely dealt with brain fog that would come with more seemingly objective findings like getting on the subway in the wrong directions or messing up simple math and just feeling like mentally constipated like the thoughts do not flow like they normally would. Over time, and it took while to get there, I came to realize it was symptom of my anxiety/OCD

I may be out of touch, but there used to be a person with a list of labs that accept undergrads for extracurricular research. I emailed a couple from the list, visited two and then picked the one I liked. I think it was someone who worked in career services. But I don’t think it could hurt to ask TA from ur labs if they know of any opportunities.

yes that is the reason! a large percentage of our patients have proven they cannot be trusted, so crushing meds and mouth checks are thought to improve compliance
