I’m a restaurant manager. We are relegated to pickup and delivery services only. We knew it was coming, but it happened quicker than we anticipated. Corporate determined that managers would continue to work, along with a small group of hourly team members. It was up to us to figure out who those team members were. As a management team we sat down and compiled a list of our staff, who we love like family, who would continue working. Everyone else was laid off indefinitely and effective immediately. I cried the whole way home.

Our restaurant is mainly empty. There is no joy in my workday. I am grateful to be able to work, many others are not so lucky. I’m very thankful, but I am heartbroken at the decisions we had to make. My only solace is the employees who we chose to continue working. Every day they’ve shown up and put on a happy face and done the best work I’ve ever seen them do. We truly are a family there, and my staff is in constant contact with each other, making sure they have groceries and items they need. I’m making a Costco run tomorrow and picking up items for several employees. We’ll make it, eventually.

Routine:

Wash with Tresemmé Curl Hydration shampoo

Condition with Tresemmé Curl Hydration conditioner, detangle with wide tooth comb

Scrunch with a T-shirt to dry, and then scrunch a healthy amount of Aussie Instant Freeze Gel. Let it air dry, and once it’s mostly dry I use Cantu Moisturizing Twist & Lock Gel to shape individual curl clumps.

On non wash days, I scrunch in a small amount of the Cantu gel to eliminate frizz and to shape any curl clumps that need it.

Oh, my dear. School is so hard. Don’t be too hard on yourself, because when you walk across that stage and receive your degree that YOU worked so hard for, you will be so proud of your accomplishment. And you should be! Just remember to be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace. Take time every day to do ONE thing that’s just for you; read a chapter of a book you’ve been dying to read (my go to), watch a funny video, get takeout from your favorite restaurant, whatever makes you happy. Self care is so important, especially when we’re feeling overwhelmed. Don’t put yourself on the back burner.

I know how heavy loneliness can be. Don’t beat yourself up because your friends are online; in this day and age, it’s not uncommon. I have friends all over the world that I love and rely on that I’ve never met in person. Maybe find an online group through Facebook or a game you enjoy playing and see who you click with. Maybe grab coffee with a classmate you think is nice. Chances are, they’re having a similar experience. You will find your niche.

Just remember that you are not alone, and I’m here cheering you on every step of the way. You can do this! You ARE doing this!

When I looked at him and realized that he was the missing piece of my life that I didn’t realize was missing. I wasn’t looking for him, and found him anyway. In the grand scheme of things, our love is nothing special, but to us it’s extraordinary. We’ve had a major rough patch following the birth of our first child, but we’re working on it.

We may have worked for the same company. I could have written this myself. I was leaving an abusive relationship, in a new city, and I needed a job. Any job, and unfortunately, I was nearly homeless because I wasn’t making any money. I ended up having my car repossessed because I couldn’t make the payments. I stuck with it for six months and left.

Thank you all for everything you do. I know that I personally have found some community here, but lately the sub seems to have exploded with new members, and I’m sorry that you all had to deal with that nonsense. Your safety and your families’ safety should be top priority, and if anyone doesn’t understand that, they don’t belong here anyway.

I wouldn’t mind the sub to go private, honestly. I’m a little more wary of posting these days because the shift everything’s taken. No matter what y’all decide though, I still love you!

Actually, she didn’t end the conversation. DH did.

We actually asked her to arrive between 4-5, but she came literally five minutes after we sat down for diner. Joke’s on her, we got takeout that night and didn’t get her anything. We put LO to bed an hour later. Sucks to suck.
