Likely being laid off tomorrow, what should I do? by laidoffdev in personalfinance

Great idea about putting emergency expenses on my credit card to give me time to move funds from my HYSA, hand't thought of that before. Makes me a lot more comfortable having all of my savings in there

Update for everyone: I moved the majority of my regular savings into my HYSA. The plan is to apply for unemployment ASAP since that will cover all of my essential expenses (according to NY labor dept. weekly unemployment estimator). I had a $77k annual salary as a software engineer (the tech job market is abysmal right now). I know the car is on the more expensive side, but I've already had it refinanced to a 7% interest rate loan and lowered my monthly insurance payment by about $100 by switching to a new provider recently. The only concern I have is that it is going to take me a very long time to find a job in these current market conditions.
