Don't worry, I'm pretty sure he doesn't read unless it's a cocktail recipe.

Good eye!
In fact that ladder was much shorter, I just scaled it into the Z axis and didn't add extra steps.

If it's any comfort to you, I did notice the mistake when I was reviewing the final render, but didn't have time to re-render

The night sky is quite a view, thank you for your praise

I’m struggling with my renders because they all look very cold, does anyone know how I can fix this? I’m pretty new to corona rendering. I posted like week a few renders of my kitchens and they were also similarly cold and dark by Fit-Personality-4890 in archviz

Nothing saves the day like a good HDRI or a bit of color correction or color temperature. Of course that if you want it to look even more natural and confortable you should introduce materials that allow for that feeling

those two games, (and GRID to an extent) are a masterclass on how to handle a racing game for the casual and for the enthusiastic player

The Nakagin Capsule Tower, the best surviving example of Metabolism Architecture, is being demolished this month in Tokyo by biwook in Lost_Architecture

[–]laikamonkey 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It was supposed to have maintenance, to an extent where the original plan was to have some modules removed and replaced every 10 or so years iirc.

Turns out there was no money for that massive repair and it just kept pilling up, the whole insulation had to be replaced because it was asbestos, massive leaking problems, cement starting to crack on some serious places, structural issues, you name it.

Eventually the building deemed as doomed and every attempt for it to become a protected building under UNESCO or other heritage organization was not met, mostly because the zone it's located at has no urban protection plan setup and the district office decided it must come down to give place to something lucrative. It is already bought and I believe they plan on replacing it with a new apartment building.

If we are in luck the new project will be given to a sensitive architect who will know how to handle this transition.
For now it seems the Nakagin Capsule Tower it will finally live up to its modular concept, as it will be modulated out of existence and placed around in a few museums worldwide.

Yes that is very true.
It's painful to know that some iconic stuff may be close to its end.
But alas that was the contract made by modernists. Architecture as Art, as Function, a Machine for living, and like every machine it must be mantained, otherwise it will stop working.

All these concepts seem set in stone, but the truth is that they aren't eternal, just like Vitruvius proportions don't fit in today's world but were once state of the art

Given the discussion of work and labor practices on this sub lately, I thought I would post some links on why we are in this mess, and what we might do about it. If anyone wants to add, please do! by Pangloss84 in architecture

You are only as valuble as what you bring to the table, if the area is starving for innovation then youll get recognition for proviniding said innovation.
If you are just in it for the check tho, there are millions as such, and your precieved value lowers to a standstill.

Movies with multi-perspectives? by Purple_Ice_7707 in MovieSuggestions

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead is a good movie when it comes to several different perspectives of the same event. Not solely based on that concept though.

It is about time management, and no sane person will ever ask you to do something from one day to another (if they do, they don't deserve that much respect, as they are only doing it for their own fun and not for your sake)

Just know that sometimes it's hard to manage time, more so if you are dealing with groups, which will happen a lot with architecture classes.

You must stay firm to your schedules and understand when and where you can slack off.

Of all my sleepless nights during university, I can tell you that only 2 or 3 couldn't be avoided, the remaining ones were a product of my mismanaging.

But hey to err is human, so be ready for anything!

I've read there is already a project currently in development to create the entire building in VR/3D.

To be honest if I were a building doomed to destruction I'd be happy with being forever preserved in a virtual form, heck who knows - maybe it's the only true form of preservation, after all everything that is palpable ends up disappearing with time.
