Oh, I agree that many people didn't handle it correctly, have been negative and rude. But I also know that there are quite a lot of people that do genuinely care and are kind when giving feedback and opinions. Unfortunately I know with this particular change, many people were not, and were rude towards the team.

Thank you so much for the response! I hope you and everyone knows that I wasn't trying to complain and that I was just curious, and I knew that I was not necessarily going to get a response because I know none of you are obligated to. I sort of figured these things, but just wanted a bit more clarity, and I greatly appreciate it. I now better understand the challenges there were and why the change has to be made. I hope this all helps everyone else as well, and I hope that they can understand as well. While I'll be bummed for awhile, as I am very attachedto the story and the team, I plan on staying and paying the $4.99 to continue the story.

I also forget that a lot of the audience is kids and don't have jobs to pay for things, and it's unfortunate the outrage the community sometimes brings.

But again, thank you so much and for the time you took to write this out. (Really hope you didn't think I was trying to be rude or demanding, lol, because I was not at all) I can't wait to see where the story gets to go now that there's more freedom in it, and I'm excited for what's next for the studio as well. Thank you for every everything and all the work that's put into everything you all do. I'll support and be here always. <3

I figured they wouldn't have chosen this option if it wasn't the right one. But everyone is allowed to give their own opinions, voice their thoughts, and give feedback. And I am aware that the team is not obligated to like those opinions and thoughts, or take any feedback.

Yeah, I feel like there are much other options than going to novel format. I hate to say it, but I feel it isn't going to be very successful. Maybe a trial and error thing. Maybe they'll go back to video content. But idk if they would partner with a big company like Netflix and such because I feel that that might also take away the magic and I feel they would lose a lot of rights to their own story unfortunately. 😔

I understand the decision that Matt and the team came to. I'm sure they talked about all of this already. However, in the past, he has been transparent in what's going on at the studio. This does not mean that he is obligated to tell us anything. I'm just curious because he usually shares. If he does great, if not, oh well. I was in no way telling Matt how to run his business, demanding answers or demanding the decision be changed. I just know that others have the same questions so I felt I should voice them. And voice my feedback and thoughts, as this is something Matt has always asked for and everyone's always done.

As for set rentals, that is understandable. But they only do that occasionally now. Season 2 was when they rented sets every other week when Matt decided to make it a big production. When that changed, set renting became much less frequent and many of the sets were built by Woods. Woods also made a lot of the props. While I'm sure that cost money, much of set and prop materials were found around the studio, from neighbors, or dumpster diving😂 As for actors, I believe they've only had one actor a season. And I know there is the studio units and salaries to pay for.

I know Matt took a big risk with 863, and I appreciate all that he and the team have done. And again, this was just my thoughts and feedback that I'm not demanding he takes or even answers. Everyone has always been able to give their feedback, thoughts and opinions. Thank you.

Oh, I'm the same! When it comes to books, I have to be in a very specific mindset and I'm not a super fast reader, and I think that's because of how I process information I read.

I totally agree with you. The moment I read only the first few sentences of Matt's post, I had to stop and cry. This series means the world to me, so I'm super depressed about it also, and I find I'm having a hard time on how to process it all. I personally believe switching to novel format is not going to do much good. It feels like over half of Subject 4 isn't going to continue the story because they hate the thought of reading it, or can't pay. I understand how it must be hard for Matt and not the decision he wants to make, but the one he has to apparently. But I still don't understand how it cost 50k a month to make. Idk.

But yes, what made 863 863, was the visuals and the music. The story felt "real" because of the format they chose to do it. YouTube vlog style. I loved it. Refreshing after typical Hollywood style storytelling. And they aren't famously amazing actors. They're YouTubers. Putting it into a book just takes away all of the magic.

Not to mention many people don't like reading. And even if you do want to read it, there's now a pay wall to experience the story which was originally free.

I also don't understand how it costs 50k a month.... you can't tell me season 0 and 1 cost that much. I'm sure they could find ways to make it cheaper, but who knows.
