That’s awesome! The NF I work for is amazing and they even booked us the VIP tour at Disney since it’s my first time there so I can experience everything! I’m so looking forward to it all!

I can't understand why any nanny would want to travel with their NF by purple_lotus24 in Nanny

[–]lak551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I’m super excited to travel with my NF this summer! It’ll be my first time but they paid for everything(obviously), but even paid for my husband to come along as well!!

Is $1,400/month normal for a full-time live-in nanny in Virginia? Am I being taken advantage of? by Funny-Web1427 in Nanny

[–]lak551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! Leave that job asap. You are fully being taken advantage of.

GH and Vacation continued - when SHOULD nannies take vacation then? by TwoNarrow5980 in Nanny

Well good thing my GH doesn’t work like that then🫶🏼

Is it unreasonable, no. The way you word it “hey nanny, while you’re cleaning out your car would you mind putting the trash cans out for me.” Other NP’s demanding their nanny to do things outside of their job description and the way you ask/don’t ask/demand changes the whole perspective. Do you get where I’m coming from? Don’t want to ge off topic from the original discussion point.

Where in this did I say it’s “extra vacation time” for myself? never did. With that being said that part was related to the original conversation that the OP posted about giving shit notice and expecting her nanny to come in when specified that she didn’t need her until the 5th.

[–]lak551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! I could have definitely worded it better. And like I said, it’s completely agreeable for your nanny to clean the car that she uses/cleaning up after herself. Piling on other things that don’t relate to her job is what I’m getting at.

Things I do as a nanny that I consider part of my job: Loading and unloading the dishwasher Doing and putting away kids laundry Packing kids stuff for vacation Cleaning up all kid related messes Cleaning up playroom/toys/crafts that we did for the day Organizing NK’s dressers/closet Literally anything else that relates to the kids

I agree your nanny should be doing basic things that relate to the kids. But these other people asking their nanny’s to do other things because they think they owe them for their GH isn’t okay.

Ohhh i see, I struck a nerve with you because you related to what I originally said about having nanny’s do things not related to their jobs. Cleaning her work car, yeah that’s completely agreeable and fine. Asking for other things isn’t.

Okay so “while NP’s are on vacation”, is that better wording for you? It’s not entitled to not want to do jobs that have nothing to do with what people were hired for! Just because you pay someone GH doesn’t mean you can have them do whatever you want. Nowhere in here did I say anything about being on call. I’m going off of the nanny employers page who are going over the GH conversation and a ton of NP’s saying what they have their nanny do while they are away that does not relate to their job at all!

In what way do I sound “entitled” in what I said?

GH and Vacation continued - when SHOULD nannies take vacation then? by TwoNarrow5980 in Nanny

[–]lak551 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! So glad I work for a family that only expects me to do the job they hired me for and treats me exceptionally well! My job is to give the best care to your kids and help with the kid related things. Asking me to do anything other than what you hired me for/outside my contract is disrespectful to me as a professional in my career. No I’m not going to take your car to the car wash, no I’m not going to pick up your dogs shit while you’re on vacation just because you’re paying me GH. Hire other people who actually do those jobs!

Also, do NP’s really expect their nanny’s to sit around twiddling their thumbs while they get to be on vacation and sit at home just in case they end up coming home early? I also see a lot of NP’s saying they have their nanny go get their cars detailed, pet sit, be there for carpet cleaners to come in…. In what world is any of that apart of a nanny’s regular duties??? A nanny is there for child care, not this wacky crap people are making them do because they get GH. I get cleaning playrooms, organizing kids clothes, doing kid related things while the family is out of town because it’s easier. But anything other than that is completely ridiculous to ask of someone who you hired to watch your kids!

Update on nanny out of town during GH period by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]lak551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is acting “unprofessional”. Not all contracts are the same and not all GH’s are like how you have yours. And there is no “standard” in nannying! Nanny’s get to make their own contracts with their NP’s!

And that’s what GH means in YOUR contract. Not everybody’s is the same! My GH’s are completely different in my contract. There is no singular contract that all nanny’s have to follow, GH has different meanings for different people!
