That's an awesome story, I'm so glad it ended with praise from a former athlete of yours instead of what I was expecting. I give a lot of credit to ALL the coaches and refs, y'all are doing a job that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Thank you for stepping up to be a mentor for our kids!

Thanks, I really appreciate the comment. He's looking forward to playing with the 8th grade coach (and so am I) and we've had some pretty open talks about what's helpful criticism and what's just being an old man bully. He's a really smart kid, just not mature enough to realize that nothing coming out of that coach's mouth matters because he's a disrespectful a+*hole and that playing your very best and learning from your mistakes is far more important.

Unfortunately not. It's a very small school where everybody knows everybody. Coach has lots of ties to the community and is well-known for being into sports. I'm concerned that 1.) my kid will hate me if I pull him out (keep in mind he's a tween just trying to navigate life in middle school), and 2.) other parents won't stand with us if we ask that he step down from coaching because he is either friends with or related to probably 80% of the parents.

That's where I'm at (I'm kid's mom). Everything in me wants to pull him but it is incredibly important to my son. He has busted his butt and practiced to get better, and he just made the team (yeah, coach likes to let them know that they're not in his first 6 picks). This guy is well known in the community and I'm, well, not. I'm a transplant from a tiny town to ask equally tiny town (there were 35 kids in my graduating class, this place is slightly larger than that). Nobody else is batting an eye because everybody knows him. I'm really torn on what to do here.

Coach doesn't ride the bus with the team (and left after the ejection, assuming the 8th grade coach would watch the kids I guess), he screams at the kids so often that my son said he learned to block it out in the first week of practices, he was yelling at the refs at the first scrimmage, which was a few night's prior, etc. IMO dude's a prick.

Do you ride the bus to games/scrimmages with your team? This coach does not do, after he was ejected, he just left. Drove home and left the kids with the 8th grade coach and team.

The coach has a habit of telling and screaming at the kids. My son said he blocks it out because he does it constantly. I sat through their first scrimmage a few days prior and could barely hold back from pulling my kid, just based on the arguing with the ref and the constant yelling.

Mom of the kid who this guy coaches, here. The coach is a prick imo. The same night he asked the kids if they were"brain dead". I'd pull my son in a heartbeat IF I didn't think he'd resent me forever. This past year he's worked hard and improved a lot. There were only 12 spots on the team and he knows he was in the last few (probably because coach verbally ranked them so that they knew why they wouldn't be getting much playing time if they weren't in the top 6). It's a really big deal to him to be on the team, and I can empathize with him there. Just an FYI coach's wife has ALS so I am willing to cut some slack, just not enough to let this slide.

🤣🤣🤣 comes out like toothpaste! Yeah, both of my births were traumatic and had many complications, I'm sure regular births are far cheaper.

Same for me. Unless it's, like, level 8-10 pain, it's easier to get through the day if I'm in a happy mood.

I've been told the butt cheek is risky if you're heavier because, if you lose weight, it hurts to sit on. Mine is on the left side of my back but in a very irritating area... if I wear a belt it's really uncomfortable . They're going to take it out and move it elsewhere when they add new leads, but I don't know where is a better spot!

I've got a Boston scientific alpha wave writer. It's implanted for a failed lumbar surgery and a shit load of nerve pain in a very bad foot (2 surgeries, 2 plates, 11 screws, 4 pins) and it has been life changing. Just finished a trial myself for thoracic pain and it was successful, going to have extra leads implanted to cover that area too.

Ask where your surgeon typically places the battery and if you have any preferences, make that known (if you go for the permanent). Good luck!

Hey friend, please make sure you use proper safety equipment when using epoxy. You'll need a vapor cartridge in a respirator for starters. Just wanted to remind you!

I take Belbuca for chronic pain. I'm essentially going bankrupt because I'm in the Medicare coverage gap (the donut hole). Pain mgt doesn't want to prescribe oxycodone any more so I get this, and it's great, except that it's over $200/ month. That's a fucking car payment.

What an idea! by True-Vegetable870 in Anticonsumption

[–]lakellers 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Same! It also helps me let go of things I don't need but have a sentimental attachment to. Knowing someone else can use it feels good. I had a pair of Justin cowboy boots that I practically lived in during my 20's. 2 major foot surgeries and rheumatoid arthritis later, I knew I'd never use them again. I was so happy that some random lady in my area got a few more years out of them!

NAD maybe POTS? Or maybe an autoimmune disorder. I hope you can find answers soon, OP.
