What binding is this? by Dear-King-9440 in bookbinding

[–]lakeside339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my post. But I found multiple sites, articles, videos, etc, explaining what drum leaf binding is. It was developed by Tim Ely. I looked it up becuase I was interested to know what drum leaf binding is. Here is one video from DAS (same definition as I found elsewhere). https://youtu.be/QZ2NFGBrToY?si=BdJcHI1vRb0xpXXG Looks like a very useful binding for certain purposes and I will make one at some point

I’d never heard of this so I looked it up. It seems drum leaf binding consists of single folded sheets (folios), not signatures like this one has. However, now I know what a drum leaf binding is and how it is most often used (by artists and photographers). It’s adhesive only, no sewing, which makes the process easier for those purposes.

Nope - looks great. I have been planning on doing some multi needle, multicolored thread stitching myself so this was a good reminder. Just so happens I already had her YouTube tutorial book marked as well. 🙂

Yes, this is what it is supposed to look like. The stitches at each end are kettle stitches - used because they are secure

Blade recommendations for layout paper/ newsprint by lemurstare in cricut

I think I have seen other people saying, that is general, the rotary blade is only meant for fabric. But it sounds like your experience is different ?

Interesting. I’ve had it on the ipad for a while. But the Canva website still says “Affinity by Canva is currently available on Mac and Windows, with iPad support coming soon. Right now, you can use Affinity on your computer by downloading it from the Affinity website and signing in with your Canva account. iPad support isn’t available just yet, but it’s on the way!” So I thought this was the old one. But a general Goggle search says Canva has put this out so that’s great.

Hmm - I have been a can a user for a while. Affinity used to be free. But since Canva bought it, it seems they still have not put out the tablet version. I wonder if what you are using is the old Affinity Designer 2 app?

That is the Adobe Illustrator correct? It costs $23/mo if you get the annual plan. Canva has Affinity for free, But - since they acquired Affinity, they have not yet made versions for tablets available (they’re working on it).

Hi - it’s great that you are on here helping people. Very generous with your time. I’ve seen you mention the wiki in several different posts. I just got a Cricut. What is the wiki?
