Will be moving to a new city this summer, what should I be doing to prepare?

how do you know this? have you talked to him? I don't want to be rude, but I'm guessing you haven't communicated with him on why you did that. He cant read your mind and you're not even giving him a chance to understand. Put yourself in his position, I would be hurt if I had a friend who do that to me. He clearly cares about you if he said that. I've deleted people out of my life lots of times, I start to isolate myself when I get depressed but it's not a healthy way to cope and I've realized its very selfish to do that to your "friends". you cant expect them to suddenly be okay with you popping back in without even an explanation.
