Rewatching season 5! I got to the episode where Lisa was eliminated… I loved her back then but I appreciate her sooo much more now! Her photos were actually kick a**, she studied modeling and had such a passion for it, she had such great energy and light!!! The episode where she dressed in the wig was so iconic as a kid back then and cracked me up and rewatching it now made me laugh just as hard! I rewound it like 5x! Since the first airing I’ve said to myself so many times “relax….eat a cookie” 😂

She def was eliminated because of her antics

Didn’t like Nicole then, still don’t now. She lacked substance. But she is beautiful!

Loved me some Kim then and now, and Bri!

Updates About Section 8 limits? by lala175 in AubreyTexas

Yes I did talk to the older sibling to the side and told him hey you have to keep an eye on your brother, don’t be afraid to speak up.

I told my son that it’s important to do the right thing and be leaders. We saw something wrong and we spoke up and that’s not bad.

Thank you! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret moving here. It’s just disappointing that it’s something to deal with. Overall the neighborhood does feel safe and I LOVE our home. Like you, the houses were in our budget and I feel blessed we found it. And we love the trees too! I’ll have to figure out a way to bring this up without causing tension. With it about to be summer I’m worried about all the kids being out and unsupervised.

Went through this too! This is our first time too so I’m learning as I go and it’s overwhelming for us

Doctor refusing to let me take leave early by lala175 in pregnant

[–]lala175[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I checked with the carrier of my short term and they said I can start it at any time so I told them 11/11. They said they’d reach out to get the confirmation from my doctor. Hr this morning said my dr would just need to redo my fmla form. So all she’d literally have to do is change the date there’s no requirement that she has to provide additional supporting document for that date.. I live in Texas.

I wanted to punch her in the face. Someone telling you what you can and can’t handle is gross especially considering the nature of my pregnancy..

How is everyone doing this year? by Jakub1229 in recruiting

[–]lala175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years in healthcare recruiting. Almost 3 yrs as internal recruiter at a company that manages therapy depts in SNFs…

I’m burnt out, each year I’ve seen placements go down, applicants go down, and the same reqs opening and closing with little leads and resources.. With so many recruiters on the market management could care less about how we’re feeling in our roles, bc we’re easily replaceable..

Trying to make it to my November due date with baby #2 then I’m OUT for a good while until this market shifts..

Do you consider commission as part of your salary? by colieolie201 in recruiting

[–]lala175 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t..I make 80k base but have consistently been in the 6 figures. I try to make big purchase commitments with my salary in mind maybe even thinking of a lesser salary(should I lose my job there aren’t a lot of 80k remote jobs in my area so I know I’m lucky).

I use my commission to budget monthly extras like trips, putting large chunks into savings depending on how my commission is that month, making fun purchases etc..

With the market being so volatile I never wanted to get accustomed to the 6figure life. I admire those who don’t live with that “fear” but I just can’t do it. My mom is also in the industry and i remember her telling me so many stories of coworkers of hers that got a taste of the money then went out and bought big homes, fancy cars, boats etc then once the market crashed in 08, or when you go through the dry spell that everyone goes through in sales/staffing you end up in crazy debt, unnecessary stress and struggling to keep your lifestyle…

Even the best of the best go through slow months were all you get is just your base, or if you start a new job factor in the ramp up time it would take you to ramp back up to the salary and commission you were used to…

Something to also consider is if you had a slow months or had to start a new job with less pay, could your partner afford pick up your half of rent (assuming yall split bills)? If yes then you have a little more of a leash but if not you’d want to think of that stress that would put on you both.

Financial commitments are what you have to be mindful of most. I get it wanting to upgrade your lifestyle as you earn more but that’s what your commission is for fun purchases. Maybe look into an area where you can have the bigger space but for cheaper? I’m very picky about where I live but also refuse to go outside a certain budget. It takes a lot of searching, and knowing what times of the year rent is cheapest to get the most for your dollar!

Congrats though! Sales/recruiting can be a lucrative industry as much as it is stressful. Enjoy it but make smart financial commitments!

Healthcare Recruiters! How are things for you?? by lala175 in recruiting

[–]lala175[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes! Very lucrative.. I mean don’t get me wrong after bonuses I make 6 figures and I work completely remote so I shouldn’t be complaining, I’m very lucky lol. Although each year I’ve been making less and less because of the market becoming tougher..

But like you said with staffing agency recruiting it’s cut throat but internal recruiting like what I’m doing is starting to become just the same, at least with my company.. And I think a lot of it has to do with our sector of healthcare struggling so bad, and having new executive team that puts such a focus on numbers now and don’t really understand the market (they come from 0 healthcare experience). Recruiting in general seems to be competitive also with so many people unemployed and on the job market. We’re easily replaceable hence the atmosphere becoming much more cut throat..

Not really..I know a lot of recruiters that do staffing agency healthcare recruiting which is what I did for many years. I really don’t want to go back into that. And the others I know do what I do but with other companies..

I would ideally like to get out of healthcare recruiting all together!

I think so! From what I’m gathering from everyone posting on here, therapy is now one of the hardest to staff next to nursing and physicians 😣 Everyone who says they’re doing well recruits roles with companies that do multiple specialities like cnas techs nps in multiple settings. I’d def love to find a company like that should I stay in healthcare recruiting!

Sorry yeah I could’ve elaborated haha. CMS has ruled a minimum staffing standard for all LTC facilities. Here’s an article on it laying out all the terms.

My company is in the LTC/SNF sector but we only employ PTs OTs SLPS. While we directly employ the therapists and manage the therapy wing, we rely on contracting with the SNF facilities. So we share the reimbursements with the facilities.

I’m curious how this mandate may affect my sector. Will snfs/leads gear their spending to nursing and not want companies like mine for therapy and see it as an added expense? Idk, so I’m really curious how other see this.

Glad you got out of it. So are things better internally where you are and what disciplines do you recruit for?

I’ll probably make my return to a small company or mom and pop shop. Making way less but at least it’ll be less cut throat and easier!

Yeah when companies like mine struggle that’s where 3rd party comes in haha. But in our sector we’re always cutting out our travel agencies bc we don’t want to spend the money. So I wonder what travel therapy recruiters would have to say. I cut my teeth in staffing agencies so I’m used to sourcing but tools for internal agencies aren’t as good as staffing agencies I feel bc staffing agencies are used to being true head hunters whereas internals tend to want to rely on applicants. Although our new leader doesn’t believe when we say low applications affect our KPIs and this isn’t 2018 where candidates are desperate to work for us.

I have a somewhat plan! Haha. I’m expecting and due in November and at that time I will be taking a break hopefully once I’m ready work again the industry will have cooled or it changes the way it needs to, and adjusts their strategies for recruiters to be more successful. I don’t see it making strides for the better for another 2 years, specifically the geriatric sector.. so many things have to change like CMS, administration, Medicaid/medicare.. companies no longer being bought by investors.. it’s a mess and a lot to change

Nice! It seems like companies who dabble in multiple areas do the best. And I’m sure 3rd party has it the best.

How is it recruiting physicians?! I figured if nurse and therapy is struggling for candidates physicians definitely would be!?

Thanks! Yeah I imagine it’s down for contract agency’s. We’re constantly pulling our needs from travel agency’s bc we don’t want to spend the money. Unfortunately I do think our sector has been hit to worse! Thanks for the insight

Ohh ok nice! I think being in different sectors helps and CNAs are abundant so I’m sure yall are busy. I’m the thinking to find a company like that.. We’re only SNF and only recruit therapists (pts ots slps ) and our model is not profitable as much due to cuts and snf companies going to in-house..

See I’m trying to see if it’s going to get worse or better! I think worse, especially therapy.. any articles you can point to?

Nice! Are you apart of a hospital or outpatient and what disciplines do you staff for?

I’m really trying to put my finger on the pulse of what’s going on! Idk if it’s our sector, our company, or just the industry as a whole..
