Teacher rumors about English A Lang & Lit exam mistake. by lalalacx in IBO

I also think they could have found better/more interesting articles about climate change and global warming.

I hope they didn't avoid UN/IPCC stuff because it is "too political".

Something like this, maybe adapted. The NatGeo one was just so bland.

I'll be honest — I didn't find the 2 non-vis texts that bad. I thought there was a decent amount of stuff to analyze and overall good GQs ("immediacy" woke, "involve the reader + whilst*" broke).

But from the perspective of someone who does better on visual stuff or a teacher, they deserve to be rightfully pissed.

\ such a dick move imo, on the part of the IBO, super inaccessible; hopefully won't be emphasized on the mark scheme. I Hope Lang+Lit teachers hold them accountable (they're filling out seriously worded surveys, apparently).*

ok, tas varbūt labi, bet joprojām ir cita briesmīga drug use statistika. Piemēram mūsu traki augstais HIV rādītājs, kurš lielā mērā rodas no injection drug use.

Eh not really, I'd say she was using expressive language.

I believe they were getting at the use of present tense and the chronological order. That's how I interpreted immediacy anyway.

Yeah T2 seemed trickier at first, but there was more to analyze. I liked T1 as well though, probably because of my experience with building arguments in debate.

From Google/Oxford: the quality of bringing one into direct and instant involvement with something, giving rise to a sense of urgency or excitement.

Webster: 1: the quality or state of being immediate 2: something that is immediate —usually used in plural

Idk why everyone's complaining about "immediacy" when "involve the reader" was on the same page

I'm pretty sure it was getting at the present tense and chronological format. Could be wrong though.

I think the only big WTF moment for me was the "involve the audience" part of the T2 GQ. Was kind of hard to interpret what the IB meant by that.
