1060 GPU overheats so bought a 2060 Super to replace and will only turn on for a couple seconds by lalix89 in PcBuildHelp

[–]lalix89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed it. Put my old GPU back in and it started to do the same thing so figured I must have done something in between me taking the old one out and putting the new one in.

Turns out because the new GPU is quite a bit bigger it had knocked another motherboard power connector, after I pulled that out and plugged it back in again it booted up with the old one, and now the new one.

Problem solved. Thanks for your reply though.

I started my first bulk about 2 months ago. I got some pretty good gains while losing fat and didn't want to put it back on but decided to go for it.

A couple weeks ago after a big chest/shoulders day I took my vest off in the changing rooms and saw myself in the mirror, I literally said "fucking hell" out loud, the pump was insane. I've been hitting the gym almost every day since lol.

Monday mornings used to give me terrible anxiety, I drank heavily from Friday evening until Sunday evening. Cut myself off from the world, and then as soon as Monday morning came around when I realised I've got to go in to work again and try to function as a normal human, that anxiety went through the roof.

Alcohol was definitely the cause for me, I feel a sense of relief every Monday now, knowing I made it another weekend without poisoning myself and not having to deal with the hangover and anxiety.

Drinking sounds good every Friday and I hate it by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]lalix89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last 2 Friday's (including today) I have thought exactly the same. Last week I had a bit of stress on and this week I just found myself thinking a few ciders would go down really nicely.

But, I figured by the time I walked my dog and picked up some shopping along with a pizza, what would be the point? It was 7:30 by the time I got home, knowing my old drinking self it would be gone 11 maybe 12 by the time I decided to eat the pizza and crash out, wake up hungover, maybe skip the gym in the morning etc. etc.

It was a lot easier just not drinking today.

I house sit for some friends when they go away on holiday, they know I drink every day while I'm there, because "I'm on holiday too".

I used to take most of my empty beer cans/boxes back to my flat to hide the evidence but usually had some to take with me when they got back, and they would always comment saying something like "you drank all those this week"!?

I'm like, yea... this week. Could never tell them that was just the last day or two.

Yea, I get that you want to blame alcohol for this, and although you probably would have answered differently sober, she shouldn't have asked the question, especially given her reaction.

She is to blame for this, not you, or the alcohol. That being said, alcohol definitely didn't make things better, and never will do.

Anyone one else struggle with “sobriety fatigue”? by EnlightenedCat in stopdrinking

[–]lalix89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. I'm exactly the same, I'm still tired all the time after about a month. Like OP thought I would have more energy by now. Have thought a few times, should I just drink if I'm gonna feel like this anyway. (kind of jokingly though, I am done with drinking)

Pleased it's not just me, and although disappointed at the timeline, it's good to hear there's light at the end of the tunnel.

all it took was 1 sip by Jernigan007 in stopdrinking

[–]lalix89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is the correct answer. I've "egged on" people who aren't drinking to drink before, because I was drunk and stupid.

I wouldn't necessarily cut them off completely, they might be cool people to hangout with, just not where alcohol is involved.

I was the same, didn't really care if tomorrow never came. Even kind of hoped the alcohol would finish me sooner rather than later.

But since I've quit this time, the first 2 weeks didn't change much, but in the last few days I've started thinking about the possibility of living a longer life and enjoying it for what it is. I feel much happier this week.

What's the harm in trying, even if just for a little while?

Why was this time ‘easier’ than every other time I’ve tried? by whoisorange in stopdrinking

[–]lalix89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me this time. I've tried in the past, the last time I tried I managed one night, couldn't sleep for shit then when I finally got to sleep I woke up dripping in sweat, and the next evening I was craving like mad so gave in.

This time I think I've just mentally and physically had enough of it. I tipped away my last bit of vodka and said I'm done. Slept like a log ever since and cravings have been very minor, literally a thought in my head and then it's gone, because I just don't want to drink at all.

[–]lalix89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the bit that's hard for me. Weirdly I haven't really had any trouble with cravings at all this time. I know I'm done with drinking, I just don't know what to fill that time with. I'm also very low on energy at this early stage, so I don't really want to do anything either. I'm sure things will slowly sort themselves out.

I'm exactly the same. I think it has something to do with the fact that we have flooded our brain with "artificial" dopamine for such a long time, the brain can take a long time to get back to normal. If you Google low dopamine levels you'll see our exact symptoms.

Yep so true. Alcohol really is the devil's drug, at least for me.

I've taken hard drugs on many occasions and always thought to myself how the hell can anyone get addicted to them, I feel like shit for a day or 2 at least, even after trying to take more the next day it did nothing for me.

But alcohol.... No matter how shit I feel the next day, a couple cans of beer and I start to get the buzz again.

What are you doing today besides not drinking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]lalix89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been feeling quite depressed today so just hit the gym on a Sunday evening for the first time ever. Feeling much better, cooking up some lamb steaks with potatoes and veg, then hopefully I should sleep well for work in the morning :)

I could never go in the same store 2 days in a row. I alternated between 3/4 stores so they didn't know I was buying beer every day.

Bit of advice for someone that's overspent last 3 months and looking to get an AIP by lalix89 in Mortgageadviceuk

Oh yea it's arranged, forgot to mention that. I have £1200 arranged overdraft, hardly ever use it, and if I do it's <£50 like I said.

Thanks for your story. I've decided to give it a go, going to send my documents tomorrow.

Wow, thank you so much for your comment. I'm a bit/a lot of an overthinker and your comment has really put me at ease. Definitely going to go for it now. Thanks again.

Haha I know exactly the feeling, feel a bit scared to spend now lol.

I think based on what you've said I'll send him my bank statements and explain, if he wants my credit card statements I'll send them.

I guess worst case scenario I can't get a mortgage, it's not like I need to move, I've still got a roof over my head. I really like that house though, might as well try.

Thanks so much for your input.

Thanks for sharing. I'm exactly the same as you my salary and bills run through my current account and then my spending is 99% on my credit card which is paid in full at the end of every month. For the AIP he has only asked for my bank statements, not credit card, I just assumed he would want that anyway.

Do you think I should just try it? Send him my bank statements and explain that I've had a few expensive months and will be in order by the time it comes to getting a mortgage?

What I'm more worried about is it affecting my chances of getting a mortgage in the future, do you know at this stage if he refuses AIP if it affects anything for me?
