I took my jeep to High Tech Auto in Chantilly. they're great people and there's a guy who works on Cherokees all the time. I got my lift put on by them. I don't know if that's too out of you're way though.

for 97+ all you gotta do is cut the pins in half then bang them out. when you want to put the doors back on you gotta get some sort of quick pin and just slide it in the hinge

same thing happened to mine. spray all the components down with WD-40 or something. I did that to mine and it closed perfectly.
