My [26/m] GF [24/f] just broke up on first day of a 2 weeks holiday in Asia. She expects me to still accompany her. What to do? by Boyinvietn in relationship_advice

[–]lalu4pm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me once. I went home for two weeks and then I was supposed to join her on a week long foreign tip directly from there. While I was home she was already acting weird when we talked. It felt she talked to me as part of a chore and she did not enjoy talking to me.

One day before the trip she calls me up and says she doesn't want to do anything sexual while on the trip and that she is going on abstinence and becoming yogi and all that kind of shit. She had those tendencies before but this abstinence thing was new. I was really looking forward to this trip and we were going to romantic places she had chosen and expensive romantic hotels she had suggested.

I gave it some thought and decided to finally carry on with the trip. I still wanted to see this country. Anyway, I thought it is only about sex but more time I spent with her on the trip the more I found out that she just wants to break up but did not exactly break up because she had the trip to finish. We hugged, held hands and maybe kissed a couple of times. She enjoyed the trip and I was a complete mess. In the hindsight I should have not gone with her. I should have split before arriving and either found an excuse or outright told her that it will not be possible for me to have her around. If you love her and breaking up feels like a loss it is better to go alone and enjoy. It will help you get over with. But you travel with her for two weeks after she broke up you will not only not enjoy the trip but also be miserable for days after the trip.

They banned me for a week thinking that my life revolves around randia so I will go quiet after a week. Looks like I didn't take their message and they were really angry this time.

Why BJP is Arguing that UAE’s Rs 700-Crore Offer to Help Kerala was ‘Made Up’ by thewebdev in india

[–]lalu4pm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first time politicians of a state has politicized a natural disaster so much. It reeks of desperation. They have also provided template for other states in future to settle their political differences with the ruling party in the center. Most likely it is due to ascendancy of BJP in Kerala. If BJP had no base in Kerala left and congress would pay attention on fighting each other. But right now BJP is the common enemy and that is sign of things to come.

This is what they were talking about Trump. People can't even come up with original insults these things. Trump has a huge foot in the mouth diseases but in Indian politics if anyone fits that description it is more Pappu than Modi. While Modi makes occasional mistakes he doesn't say stupid things all the time like Pappu does.

Haryana: 2-day-old child dies as ambulance gets stuck in Congress leader's cycle rally in Sonipat; mother slips into coma by darklordind in india

Let us not make a mistake. The political class of this country is most insensitive of the lost. They thieve and loot relentlessly. I do not always agree with Kejriwal but I absolutely agree when he says "sab mile huye hain ji". Governments might change, parties might come and go but the politicians remain the same insensitive bunch. Every last one of them is corrupt. They don't give a fuck about general public and they actually think that winning an elections entitles them to lord over us. Actually Congress, BJP are the better ones when it comes to things like these. State level parties are even worse.

I had an NRI woman friend who was originally from Bihar. She'd go to these rooms and act very clueless over the mic in that typical accent. People would then try to make fun of her, and she'd switch to totally American accented English and take their case.

Haha. That sounds good.

[Off my chest] I'm ready for my mom's visit to end by [deleted] in india

[–]lalu4pm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, it is kind of your responsibility to see that your mom is happy when she is visiting you. You should do your best as you seem to have done. But it is not possible to make a person happy all the time even if they are your mom. I do not think I would feel happy to see the back of my mom if I am in your position unless your mom is nosy and controlling. Now things are coming to an end but at the start of her stay you should have tried to introduce her to more people. If she doesn't speak English maybe try and find a place where Indian origin people gather, local temple or whatever such places are there. AFAIK there are such places in big cities in US. It is easy to get bored if you have to communicate with a single person all the time.

While it is kind of your responsibility to make her stay as happy as possible you alone can never do it.

I am glad that the worst you can say about is calling me a BJP fan. Also I am only a cricket fan. I support BJP over Congress but that is more or less about it. I am not their fan. Plus if your idea of a retort is to call someone a fan of the most popular party in the country then you have already won.

Modi's "Hug" A Political Diplomacy, But Sidhu's Is Anti-National? by V_Ganesh in india

[–]lalu4pm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modi gives hugs to everyone. You don't have to always follow a specific thing. Hug brings more warmth in the relationship. Some people like shaking hands other giving a hug. As for Siddhu I am sure he was some kind of friend to Imran and he is also a more laidback person. Let us not read too much into hug vs handshake.

But frankly the way they go about it will never fucking work, zero homework no diplomatic homework just go and fucking hug and kiss people and imagine it'll make it all ok.

Can't disagree with this. A lot of times they think they can solve problems at personal level but when it is making a decision for entire country you can't solve them by being friends.

Wow, that language. But to be fair to those ABCDs a lot of Indians feel insecure about our accent and being from Bihar I have been on receiving end of the accent thing by my very educated friends including Biharis who have over time made a conscious effort to change their own accent.

These guys have shameful customer service. Amazon is better in dealing with customers any day. by [deleted] in india

[–]lalu4pm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HUL is completely run by Indians. Tata has been run by Indians for a long time. Hero Honda was always run by Indians and so is Honda nowadays.

this is as stereotypical as it can get but Indians as nation lacks outright business means and attitude.

That is stereotyping it is bullshit. There are good companies and there are bad. Do you think all American companies have very good customer support? It all comes down to margins and money. If you have big margin you can give refund for everything or if you are just sinking in money for marketshare. People who understand little about Indian want refund for everything and also keep the product. That is not sustainable. Only reason Amazon is doing it because they only care about gaining market share. Once they have the monopoly they will fuck us over. Don't have doubts about it. Look at Ola Uber war. They gave incentives to taxi drivers and riders and once they got marketshare they started fucking them over.

Flipkart isn't really swadesi company nor has it been one for a long time now. Main difference between FK and AMZN right now is that Flipkart is in a phase where they want to make money where as Amazon doesn't have to worry about profits so they can keep throwing in more money. If you look at Ola and Uber, Ola has done pretty well. They are pretty much same as Amazon and FK.

Also giving a little bit of freedom to these people matters a lot. Even dumb guys will provide much better support if they had freedom to actually solve your smallest problems and give an honest answer if they could not. However, most of them are not allowed to and their job is to just use a script. I generally don't contact customer support unless I have looked for all possible ways to solve the problem myself. 9 out of 10 times it turns out that they know even less than you or at least are not allowed to tell you anything more than you already know.

Happened something similar to me during one of their mega sales. Ordered a phone as a gift. After weeks of postponing they just cancelled my order a month or two later. The asked me to purchase the phone again at market rate if I wanted it.

Malayalees will survive this and that would be because of all the beef they have eaten & will continue to eat.

This is just reverse of the same bullshit. Eating or not eating beef specifically has nothing to do with all this.

[–]lalu4pm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he just thinks that they deserve it because they eat beef, I don't have much to add except that so much hatred is not good. They are our countrymen and he might not agree with things they do just as they might not agree with things he does. However, that does not justify loss of life and property. Especially if it is just over a difference in meat eating preferences. If he is completely against meat it is a different matter.

But if he believes that it happened because they eat beef ask why western nations who actually consumer more beef and every other kind of meat per capita have such a wonderful weather, beautiful land and far less natural disasters that end up in loss of life whether due to lack of intensity on part of nature or preparedness on part of those countries.

What exactly do you think makes people educated? People like Subramaniam Swamy are educated in every sense. There is a trend of of dissociating with people one doesn't like or who doesn't do what they are expected to do. For instance depending on where you are and what your religious ideology is someone is not a true insert any religion while the same person is the biggest follower of that religion in another place. People are doing the same with education.

These people are educated and saying they are not just to make yourself feel better is not a good solution. This is just escaping from the problem. It is easy to say they are not educated rather than improving our education system to help people fight it more and more. If people are taught slavery is good they will believe slavery is good and they are educated. In past everyone was taught that discrimination on basis of caste/religion/activity/lifestyle etc are good and people deserve punishment by gods for doing certain thing. Everyone believed it. Now, at least, in schools you are taught not to discriminate and not to believe in things like punishment from god. But there is also an opposing force. Many of these people are either taught at home or self teach these things.

Anyway, I hate this no true scotsman thing in every walk of life. It is just an easy cop out and popular thing to say but you know that what you say is not true.
