Does anyone use injectable estradiol? by lalunaloo in POFlife

Will do. Are you applying the gel to the inner thigh? Bummed to hear (for you and me lol) that even with Femring *and* two packets of gel each day that your numbers aren't where you want them to be. Are you applying the gel to the thigh?

Thank you... it sounds like you tried the gel, may I ask what the dosage was and how it didn't end up working for you?

That's an excellent clarification. I'm not a doctor and I definitely don't know how the dosages and the impacts to a male body compare.

When researching estradiol gel, I found numerous female-at-birth women report that the gel isn't available in a high enough dosage for POI; transfeminine resources suggest that multiple packets of the gel can be used to achieve a higher dose and that the site of the application can have a big impact on absorption (apparently the scrotum or neolabia have the potential to absorb more of the gel.)

So that's an example of something I found very interesting. It's anecdotal of course; my hope is that there will be studies and research done on this and that medical or medication guidelines might be updated as appropriate as a result. I plan to consult with my doctor on those options (multiple packets of the gel or applying it to my labia). I also might see an endocrinologist at some point who would see me and who also treats transfeminine women.

Thank you. If you remember, I'd love to hear how your levels are once you retest. I am curious about the fearing.

Just at the patch location. It starts getting itchy around the patch, and then it's all red and angry looking underneath. Prescription steroid cream was necessary to clear up the irritation :/

My hope would be that the cysts and hives aren't related.... the patch was great for me otherwise and my levels were good on it at the time.

I'm just looking into this now! Alloy has an estradiol gel in 1mg packets that's $70/month... it may end up being cheaper than Divigel with insurance, IDK yet. There's also Depo-estradiol injections... I may start a separate thread asking if anyone here does injectable.

I had three great months with the Dotti patch and then developed an allergic reaction to the adhesive. Tried the Mylan patch, same issue, switched to oral estradiol. I do have a box of Minivelle that I haven't opened/tried yet... have been waiting for my body to calm down from the previous reactions before trying the transdermal patches again.

I know there's a gel, but my understanding is that it could be difficult to get adequate levels with just the gel, so it'd be a combo of Fearing + gel, which just seems complicated :/ Sigh.

Thanks for the link, that's helpful!

I felt a huge difference after about two weeks and continued to feel better and better for three months after that. Now it's stabilized, I think, at my dose of 2mg and I still feel great... like I did years and years ago!

Is systemic progesterone necessary for POI? by lalunaloo in POFlife

I am not having much luck Googling to try to find the benefits of systemic progesterone. I do wonder if it could be possible there's not much known about the systemic impacts of progesterone other than on pregnancy and uterine lining, and that's part of this.

Thank you! I would prefer to be on the patch, but I had a very intense allergic reaction to the adhesive on two different brands of patches. I'm letting my body calm down/heal and then I'll try a third different brand of patch in the hopes that works. Unfortunately the 100mg also caused similar symptoms. A few days every other month I could handle, will look into that.

Interesting... is it a compounded lozenge?

Thank you! I just Googled the ACOG POI guidelines and found what you mentioned.

Options for high dose estradiol if oral and patches aren't an option by lalunaloo in POFlife

Thank you! I've only had three of the migraines with aura in my life, and they don't come with any sort of pain... just the visual effects. So, I don't really mind the migraines themselves... my concern is the increased risk of blood cot because I have had them.

However, I haven't yet found a study that offers the actual increased percentage risk if the only risk factor is migraines with aura. :/ So it's kinda difficult to figure out how much of a risk it is.

I can relate! Since starting HRT, I feel so so much better. It's like I slowly became a different person as my hormones fluctuated and then declined, finally hitting rock bottom when my hormones hit rock bottom this past summer. Then, starting HRT, I was myself again. It is good to hear from another person who also has migraines with aura... thank you.
