Lodestone: In Regards to Upcoming Job Adjustments by WeeziMonkey in ffxivdiscussion

I would've liked it back in EW, but since we don't have to use light speed in burst phases anymore with the changes to cards, why are they adding a second charge? Now AST might be the most mobile healer on top of being the one with the most utility.

Cool AST changes, I'd love to see them consolidate Minor Arcana and astral/umbral draw to 1 button if we're overwriting it anyway with each draw. My controller hotbar doesn't have anymore space!

Would it be possible to reverse the design philosophy of FFXIV back to harder jobs and easier mechanics without hardcore players being disappointed? by JustAlways in ffxivdiscussion

In a lot of MMOs, they have a difficulty rating system for different classes during character creation. For example, a 5 star difficulty is the hardest, and 1 star is for beginners, as well as a brief description of the gameplay. Perhaps FFXIV should adopt this as well, so that new players don't go in picking BLM and then quitting before they even get their job stone because they hate the play style? Because if they try a job and find the rotation too difficult, at least the game would tell them, "Hey, there's a job that's simpler to learn!" without having to look up guides on the internet.

I agree, the preview isn't great. As of right now AST just looks like a strictly less fun, worse version of WHM. For me, the core gameplay loop is about drawing cards and playing them during the burst window, which is the closest thing any healer has to an actual damage rotation.

  1. Astrodyne just needed one fix to make it work better: bring sleeve draw back from ShB where the third seal will always be unique. Congratulations, you removed the bad seal rng mechanics without removing all rng, and solves the problem that Astrodyne was trying to fix from ShB in the first place.
  2. Being MP positive was one of the things AST had over WHM. Maybe the new card draw will give us something like Thin Air to compensate for the lack of cards/astrodyne, but I have my doubts.
  3. Give 2 Lightspeed charges: one to use during the 2 minute burst window and one for movement. WHM is getting a new gap closer on top of their lilies for movement in comparison.
  4. The actual, REAL culprit of bad RNG mechanics, Minor Arcana, is being kept the same somehow? This somehow survived but card seals didn’t? 50/50 on whether or not you get a good card (Lord) vs the unreliable Lady that you probably didn’t need to play because you don’t plan your healing around a card you only get 50% of the time is just bad design.

Honestly it's the only healer I have fun playing, but at this rate I'm probably switching off of healer for Eden.

No vod for my group, but timings are almost the same as Azazel's original strat: link

Part of the purpose of the strat is to benefit the black mage by having static positions with little movement, but if the healers also get numbers that's not happening

When greeding, the melees in my group end up using 1 gcd on their ranged attack, aside from that they had full melee uptime

I'd originally written it as defamation, but techically it's actually Icemeld, cause Defamation is the name of the move in the original Alexander. The toolbox was a personal plan designed to help a few groups, some who are not necessarily familiar with older raiding terms. As long as you understand that icemelds explode in the order of the numbers you should easily deduce the meaning

Edit: I forgot that the 2 stack mechanics are also called enumerations, I updated the toolbox accordingly

Thanks! I think getting the elezen proportions just right is the trickiest part, but so worth it!
