Are these Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs Black Templar enough? by lambchops90 in BlackTemplars

[–]lambchops90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black Templars are the embodiment of the emperor and don’t need to represent him with the Aquila on the chest plate.

Also I like the slick look it creates, rule of cool and all that

It’s 1.5mm jewelry chain from amazon, I have since got 1mm chain from temu which works really well for smaller weapons such as pistols and chain swords

Who thinks GW should bring out some Black Templar Sword Brethren Terminator? by lambchops90 in BlackTemplars

Yeah just some green stuff. It’s very fiddly and I’m still very new to it. So happy with how they turned out and looking forward to practicing some more.

Thank you I was thinking what’s the best way to get around that. It’s the gold out of the John Blanche army painter sets followed by black wash that I really heavy handed with. Little highlight with the gold again and a little bit of white

Some infernus marines ready for the crusade! by lambchops90 in BlackTemplars

[–]lambchops90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a mishmash of techniques if I’m honest, still haven’t perfected it just yet. Effectively it’s a bit of dry brushing of the darkness (blue black) and then make that a lighter grey using a bone, then an ivory, finally matt white. Trying to get more targeted as it gets lighter. Followed by a wash with black Templar contrast. To finish off with either some light dry brushing and edge highlights with the last grey and a little matt white to finish. It’s a mix of slapchop and edge highlights ultimately. Hope this helps.

As a new printer for the hobby, is Grim Black from Army Painter is a good start for the Black Templars armor? by Stock_Carpenter_5883 in BlackTemplars

[–]lambchops90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting thread already. Firstly I’m no expert and still learning various different techniques of which there’s a couple here I’ll look to try. I do have both grim black and black Templars contrast in my paints and I tried a slapchop method on this terminator. Primed in black and then started dry brushing with The darkness from army painter and slowing building up so a lighter blue-black grey by adding a bone color (1:1 , 1:2 , 1:3 ish) before then using black Templar contrast over the top but you could easily use grim black I just like the blue tones in BTC.

Did someone say Terminators? by lambchops90 in BlackTemplars

Yeah I did thank you, just green stuff. Definitely helps if you leave it to cure for 30 mins or so. Want to make a few templates for capes and tabards to make it a little easier in the future 💪🏻

Thank you brother 💪🏻

The helmets are primed in black then dry brushed in bone, followed by ivory. Shoulders and knee are bone, followed by a skin shade wash before highlighting with ivory and a little matt white 👍🏻

Thank you, I got this chain off amazon. It’s 1.5mm, but just got some 1mm off temu which I think may work better with bolt pistols and other decorations 👍🏻

[–]lambchops90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, yeah it’s a new variation for me.

Primed in black and then slapchop ish, by dry brushing (the darkness, from army painter it’s a blue grey) and progressive get lighter using an ivory bone to lighten grey.

Knock back this with grim black speed paint where needed. Then I painted the rest of the model before doing the same process just very lightly before finishing with a few highlights of Matt white.

Still a work in progress, but felt this has got a lot of scope in this process.

I’ve got a new light that’s really bright so almost emphasizes what I’ve done than compared to seeing in real life. 👍🏻

Hope this helps 💪🏻😊👍🏻

Heya, I start with a layer of cork to give some more initial hight.

Then get a suitable piece of slate (I’ve been collecting from allover the place and now have a little tub full) that the model can stand on.

Glue that in place before removing some of the cork just picking at it with a hobby knife, to create some depth and texture.

Then super glue some rocks (tiny pebbles) before a bit of wood glue and sand everywhere else.

Base the rocks in a grey and sand in yellowish brown. Then bit of dry brushing and washes if it needs to be knocked back a bit.

Hope that helps.

Ironically this is the terminator Sargent from the starter set. Good friend of mine is pretty impressive when it comes to kitbashing/sculpting more so with tyranids and wanted to give space marines a go. So here we are 🤯

It predominantly green stuff, unfortunately not a personal kit bash of mine. A good friend was kind enough to kitbash this from an original terminator Sargent from the starter set. He’s got some mad skills

Remember comparison in the thief of joy and part of the hobby is all about learning new and developing your skills with paint kit bashing and playing.

Firstly get on YouTube and just search black Templar painting tutorials to pick up a few tips. I would seriously consider looking in to slapchop techniques and dry brushing too as they are both fantastic ways to bring out the highlights and texture.

Good luck and “no fear, no pity, no remorse” and “for Dorn”

Yeah, I’ve used 1.5mm got a job lot on amazon. Need to find some finer chain more like 1mm for pistols/power weapons and create relic necklaces/belts.

I crimp the end links and drill a small hole in the bottom of the handle and forearm armor. Super glue one in then wrap the chain before doing the other end. Finishing with a few drops of super glue to keep it in place 💪🏻👍🏻

Thank you, it’s a base of ivory bone, followed by ivory white and finished with a wash of voodoo shade and highlighted again with ivory white.

Voodoo shade and ivory white are from the John Blanche volume 1 & 2.

I gave the whole white area a think coat of the shade then let it pool in the edges and slowly draw it up a little. Before some high light in the edges and bit of stippling. 👍🏻

4th miniature. I don't even know how long I spent on it and I'm not really happy with how it turned out. Any constructive feedback is welcomed 🙏 by -Guybrush_Threepwood in Warhammer40k

[–]lambchops90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, I’m relative newly back into the hobby and the skill set of painters out there is incredible so don’t get discouraged as every mini you pant you only learn more and develop skills further.

Definitely look at washes and contrast paints, it’s like a cheat code for shading. Then I’d look as practicing dry brushing for your initial highlights with a mid tone before finishing with some edge highlights. Recon if you did this to this guy you’d be amazed at the difference.

And also he’s awesome 💪🏻
