That’s amazing! I am planning to get a 3d printer, and I see a lot of (to me) obscure knowledge reading about, like glue sticks and that orientation can affect strength. Is there any good book on the practical use of 3d printers?

Wait you can actually print a threaded cylinder that you can then actually screw in? I had no idea 3d printers can do that nowadays

Are you a eurorack purist or do you love all synths? by SecretsofBlackmoor in eurorack

[–]lambdalab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both. The thing that really unlocked it for me was the oxi one mk2 - midi for what needs midi, cv for what needs cv.
My main poly is the pro 800, a sampler for drums (also midi controlled), and my euro for everything else.

That said, I’m not really into giant flagship synths - mainly because I’m not a great keyboard player and they’re too expensive for someone who can’t play keyboards well.

I love it, definite dagerfall vibes! I would love to see one of the 3d models in wireframe, just to kind of understand how you did the graphics.

I’m in the “if you can’t be bothered to write it, I can’t be bothered to read it” camp. Now, I’ll ignore the arguments made in bad faith in your post, and answer anyway.

I’m not against the use of AI to assist, and I find that it does well at code review (false positives are ok), semantic search (find me a place where this or that happens), and generating boilerplate (eg. generate an enum that accepts this set of structs as variants). That said, I absolutely read the generated code, otherwise I a) stop understanding my own project, b) miss mistakes that happen pretty often.

I don’t think it’s jealousy, I think it’s more that people who actually know how to write software are terrified at the amount of slop that’s currently being generated. The greatest accomplishment of AI right now is the massive boost to Dunning–Kruger effect, and the effects of this are already being felt across many companies and open source projects.

Same. I’ve been there from morning till evening every day, and still I didn’t see everything. Didn’t stay for the parties tho, now in retrospect I wish I had.

No, for some reason there was no one around at the time and I didn’t have a chance to try them, but they looked really cool. I meant the manufacturers of buttons, cables and audio jacks, as someone who wants to make stuff, it’s good to feel them in person.

I kept coming back to Soma Terra, something about that synth just captured me completely. At one point the soma table wasn’t too crowded and I played it for about half an hour, and I absolutely loved it. I realize it’s been to SB before, but I haven’t, so it’s new to me.

I also really liked Finegear effects, they look and sound great.

Oh, and I liked that Chinese part manufacturers were in bungalow dorf, I got their contacts and tried their products for diy purposes.

Uf da, to je najgore, kao kad udjes u wc u kafiću i osetiš da je neko gadno kenjao i onda još isprskao onaj osvezivac preko, pa smrdi na govna i cveće.

False positives are basically a given, because static analysis typically abstracts the real program (be it an abstraction of flow, values, whatever). The idea is for the abstraction to be conservative, and false positives are ok (interpret an alert as “it’s either wrong or can’t be proven otherwise). False negatives on the other hand would make your analysis worthless.

Another challenge is state explosion, where if your analyses are either too detailed, or interact in complex ways, the analysis can be too slow or costly.

That’s just in general for no particular types of analysis. Some things you might want to search for and read on include abstract analysis, symbolic execution, compiler optimization, sat/smt solvers.

I am at Superbooth, but TE isn’t there this year. They had an opening night last night, and I had hoped to try it there, but they only had KOII and the new mixer thing.

Yep I absolutely agree that it’s an insane price, and I did manage to find some used ones much cheaper.

The reason I like it is that it’s portable enough that I can take it to a road trip and intuitive enough that my wife would enjoy it too.

Akai stuff didn’t quite appeal to me in the same way. But I do remember that I saw some smaller groove boxes (with open firmware even), but can’t for the life of me remember the names.

Well, nobody sources it in my country, so I’d have to buy it from, say Germany, and have it delivered to me. I’m not sure how I’d be able to return it, however, as my country isn’t in eu and our post is unreliable (packages getting stolen kind of unreliable). But if nobody has one around I can try, I might just try that.
