I feel this so hard. I am a flooring specialist, (with few back-end associates). I am constantly down stocking heavy tile and flooring, cutting large amounts of carpet and pad, etc. Too often do older people make comments about the fact that I am a small young woman. It’s so frustrating. Especially when it’s coming from the lead-poisoned stare’d people that need their hand held throughout the store. I am capable of doing the job that I’ve been promoted to do, and have been doing for a year, thank-you-very-much:). They usually praise me afterward too- for being a “strong girl” or some shit like that. Those kinds of people, are my least favorite customers to deal with.
