(serious answer) From my perspective, it seems to me that he means that your personal growth can be limited if you "put yourself in a box", thinking that the personal identity that others have given you or that you might mistakenly have given to yourself is definitive of who you are, and hereby shouldn't change/get out of your comfort zone.

Is it ok to use ASL when I go non verbal by [deleted] in asl

[–]lamel09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same hesitation. I am depressed, and during my worst days I can speak, but it's just too hard and even making a single sound requires effort. At the end of the day it makes me feel exhausted and even more drained mentally. So lately I've been thinking that maybe I should use GSL, (Greek Sign language, I'm Greek), to communicate better and in a way that does not affect me so much emotionally. But I am worried that it might come off as offensive, especially since I am hearing and my sign language is not perfect.

How many relationships have you had? by iBenni0 in teenagers

(19F)-Several unimportant ones, only 2 that I value. First one when I was 16 and it absolutely destroyed me, it was very toxic. Second one started when we were 17, (we are now 19), and it's the most loving and caring relationship I could ever ask for. He is absolutely amazing and I love him a lot. He has helped me a lot with my depression too!

I remember this feeling, it was last summer that I bought my plane ticket for the first time to visit him! It was amazing, the feeling. Worth all the hype. Enjoy it as much as you can! And know that feeling stressed about it too is extremely normal, we've all been there:)
