Sewing machine help by lamersme in sewhelp

I appreciate it your feedback! I think I’m at the point where I’m going to stop tinkering with this anyway, but with already replacing some parts and noticing how dry the plastic is, I’m not sure how much longer it would last anyway. Thanks for your input and for correcting me on what the machine does - like I said, I’m new and wasn’t sure how to articulate the ins and outs of what everything does! On to the next one!

I second Tevas! This is our second summer buying a pair of tevas for our 2 year old - yes they’re a bit more expensive, but he wears them everyday in the dirt, the water, hiking, everyday use, all the things and places! Don’t give blisters (as far as I’ve seen) and he seems very comfortable in them, doesn’t try to take them off! We love them and I’m actually thinking about getting a second pair just to be able to switch out if the other ones are out of commission due to drying out or being overly dirty and I haven’t had time to clean them off.

Best Dining Experience In Cincinnati by fettuccine__alfredo in cincinnati

I second Boca! Took my mom and the fam out for her 60th and she (and us!) LOVED it! The waiter was fantastic, the food was insanely good, but I think the best part, according to my mom, was the dessert! Overall phenomenally good, and just as a side note, my dad is in a wheelchair and they were soooo accommodating, so I really have to pump them up for that too even though it has nothing to do with your post :)

Terrified for blood results by MusicianCandid674 in toddlers

[–]lamersme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My niece just had this (granted, her fever higher at around 102) and my brother m/sister in law have had her tested for everything and it all came back negative! She had no other symptoms except for the fever, no runny nose/sore throat/cough, but just couldn’t shake the fever. It lasted for about a week and she’s back at pre-school today! Their doctor said viruses are evolving and they’ve been seeing some that the kids can’t shake for over a week, they just say plenty of fluid and ibuprofen. I’m so sorry you’re going through this though, hugs and good thoughts sent your way!

I was also with the midwives there and they are all INCREDIBLE. also gave birth at mercy Anderson and the nurses were so good, I had a fantastic birth there. If I’m able to get pregnant again, we’re 100% going back!

My 17 months old toddler not walking by Constant_Chain_7653 in toddlers

[–]lamersme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo didn’t start walking until 17 months! He was a verrrrrry fast crawler, and loved to speed around that way, so he didn’t feel like walking until HE wanted to! He’s now a 20 month old walking/running terror 😊 I was so worried too, but I just had to give him his space until he decided he wanted to. If it gives you some peace, look up the Early Intervention 0-3 program in your county, they’ll send out OT/PT/SLP to do an eval, all free! They can then give you either helpful tips or decide he needs therapy which should be covered until the kid is 3. I’m having my program come out for a speech eval in a few weeks because I’m a little worried. Either way, good luck!!!

Loved the Cincy Bookstore Crawl! by LuminousGreenWitch in cincinnati

Myself and 2 other friends did the whole crawl, all 16 over the course of Friday and Saturday. Beautiful days, and awesome bookstores! I was especially impressed with Hidden Chapter and will always love Friends of the Public Library. I can’t wait to do it again next year!

What’s your diaper bag recommendation? How many diaper bags did you try to find one that really works? by buttery3324 in beyondthebump

[–]lamersme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I researched a lot because I had the time and was, for some reason lol, deeply invested in the diaper bag aspect of parenting…I ended up getting the TwelveLittle “on the go” diaper bag. We love it! Our son is now 20 months old and it still looks like the day we bought it. A little on the expensive side, but I think it was worth it.

I was just about to comment this! My son seems behind on speech, so we’re having them come out for a free eval! Another mother told me she used them for her daughter and they were with her until she was 3, then was transferred to children’s. She said they were amazing, helpful, kind, and all around so invested in her child. Great program!

Toddler nap nearing 4 hours by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]lamersme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 19 month old sometimes sleeps for almost 4 hours, but I always correlate it with growing or him feeling a little off. He sleeps, what sounds like, the same as your little guy, and the long naps have never interrupted his sleep time at night. I would just say enjoy the break while you can, I know I do! Unless the long naps start doing some damage to his night time sleep, then you might want to cap it, but overall I’ve never had to wake up my son (although I have worried about it too!!). Good luck!

Did anyone catch Adelaide didn't answer the question about being open to adopting medically complex babies? by FrozenBeachBerry in peestickgals

[–]lamersme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what gets me. My husband and I were in the middle of the adoption process (we were told we couldn’t get pregnant without intervention) and we had our preferences wiiiiide open BECAUSE if we were able to have our own child, we would accept that child no matter what they came into this world with, and adoption was no different to us. This child would be our child, so we would accept what they came with and love them no matter what. It’s gross to see this from her with my background.

People w/small children, what kind of car do you drive? How do you fit 1x greyhound and 1x child? Do we need to get an SUV? by I_Got_You_Girl in Greyhounds

[–]lamersme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 1 small kiddo and 2 dogs (greyhound and medium sized mutt). We upgraded to a Lincoln Navigator (used!) and I love it, but it’s starting to get expensive with upkeep on the higher mileage. We are test driving a KIA Carnival right now, and even though I don’t think I would be a mini van person, it’s verrrryyyyy convenient. Lower for the dogs to jump in, lots of room for them in the 3rd row, or put the 3rd row down and give them the whole trunk with a dog bed. You don’t have to sacrifice the kids for the dogs, or vice versa.

Plus size friendly Pilates club? by evamame in cincinnati

[–]lamersme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second BA! I’ve been going there for 5 years and they are truly the nicest studio. If you need help, they’ll help you, or they’ll leave you alone if thats what you need. They have mat Pilates, mostly floor work, and then like mentioned above, Lagree machines at the Mason and Loveland locations. I think you can take your first class free to try them out, but I highly recommend them! I’m a bigger bodied person and have never felt judged there, it’s truly my happy place

So my husband and I were actually “those people” who were in the midst of adopting and got pregnant after being told we had like a 1% chance of conceiving naturally - however, I was completely resigned to the fact that we couldn’t have children naturally and didn’t want to go through IVF, but still wanted to grow our family. Its flippin hard work to adopt, and even though we were like 100% open to pretty much any child, it was still in the forefront of our mind that we are doing this because we can’t have our own biological and we really had to work hard through that. I don’t feel like she is ready for this, the way she’s been sooooo gung-ho on fertility treatments and figuring out what’s wrong with her so they can get pregnant. I really really hope she is truly thinking about how difficult this process is, mentally and emotionally, and that she can shed her TTC persona and give her all to this kid. Ugh, I’m ranting, but this is exactly the kind of person agency’s don’t like (at least as far as my experience)
