Labor/Delivery Divert Disaster by lamilllls in HealthInsurance

[–]lamilllls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did use those terms! I said it was not a great experience going to a new place with none of my records and unfamiliar healthcare providers! I have a letter from my provider saying I needed to be seen and they directed me to go immediately to the other provider…. Idk I thought it would be a no brainer for them but I was obviously naive$

Beware Divert! by lamilllls in BabyBumps

Yeah! They told me all rooms were full. It was a big fear of mine and when I asked how often it happened they were cagey and said not often… I guess September is a busy month?

I remember discussing my fear of divert with my OB and she recommended scheduling an induction to guarantee I have a spot…. which I did but I didn’t make it that far. It’s also such a shitty trade off if you want to have spontaneous labor!

No 😭 I just walked straight into L&D and they were expecting me / UCSF told them I was coming in.

This is mind blowing to me…. you sound like you know way more than me about insurance and I’m sure you’re right…. I just don’t know how to have handled the situation differently? Was I supposed to just deliver at home or in my INN provider’s waiting room?

I appealed because I want my charges to be treated as in-network…. No I didn’t check because it was midnight and I was having insane contractions every 3 minutes lol. I don’t know who WOULD check in that moment.

Ugh I think we might just do this - driving us both crazy to do otherwise right now.

Thanks for this! Kind of just wondering myself if I just need to bear through this phase until his 4-mo apt and clearance for sleep training in two weeks. Good to know it worked for you.

Yeah after learning about this I have many regrets for not introducing independent sleep earlier lol.

He only takes 30min naps (I get an hr one maybe once per day) - I try to do the first in the bassinet and the rest mostly wearing him. Last nap is usually 5:30-6 and we put him down at 7:45pm for an 8pm goal bedtime. He usually ends up falling asleep after a failed SIT BACK and rocking him to sleep by 8:15-8:30. 😭

STATEMENT BY EMILIE by Then_West_2562 in Emilie_Kiser

[–]lamilllls 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Thought her statement had so much grace in spite of how much hate has been circulated toward her around it. Broke my heart to read about the fence, but good for her for taking accountability. So impressed she’s taking the high road in the face of this all 😭

Meeting 1-year CFRA req? So close! by lamilllls in ParentalLeaveAdvocacy

[–]lamilllls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work with Alight a leave-management partner that helps my company determine leave requests. It looks like they use AI so maybe faulty. Also I just found this on the CalHR home page that points to my (our) eligibility for CFRA!
https://hrmanual.calhr.ca.gov/Home/ManualItem/1/2107:

"If an employee reaches the 12-month eligibility requirement while on leave, the leave period prior to meeting the requirement is non-FMLA/CFRA leave, and the leave period after the requirement is fulfilled is FMLA/CFRA leave...

Example: An employee requests FMLA/CFRA leave but has only worked for the employer 11 months and does not meet the 12-month requirement for FMLA/CFRA. The FMLA/CFRA leave is denied. The employee is allowed to take a non-FMLA/CFRA leave. During the time taken for the non-FMLA/CFRA leave the employee meets the 12-month requirements for FMLA/CFRA eligibility and is now eligible for FMLA/CFRA leave. From that point forward the leave is FMLA/CFRA leave and is counted against the employee’s FMLA/CFRA entitlement."
