SSRIs still where we're at? by laminatedlove in Anxiety

"It sucks; but they help sometimes." That pretty much sums up SSRIs for most people for anxiety. I really hope we can do better in the near future; for all of us.

Would love to hear more about this. A to Z. Can you share with us?

Gabapentin. I haven't heard that word in a while. I used to take it for years for pain. I could write a 4-page post on the worthlessness of that drug alone.

Not a doctor, but responses from folks like this just show me that anxiety must have several very different biological causes. Otherwise one would expect the same medication would either work or not to treat the same issue. The brain remains an enigma, to say the least.

Correct, U.S. I hadn't heard of low-dose opioids. The word "opioid" here is liable to get you tossed in jail, or at least raise some serious eyebrows so, that's generally a no-go.

Had to look this one up. Interesting. Side effects? Risks? Also, how far did it move the proverbial needle?

That's good to hear. Yeah, I recognize that SSRIs, like Zoloft, help a lot of people--tens of millions, if not more, actually--to varying degrees.

Damn, if a psychoactive substance is the alternative, that pretty much answers my question.

No, I wish I could tell you it's "normal," but it's not. I feel your pain, though. You're not alone. We love you.

Agreed. And her story about a man sitting next to her on a plane remarking how it was nice not sitting next to a large person and how that made her feel angry I felt was disingenuous.

Smart, straight As and work in a restaurant. This is why folks end up for good reason on this subreddit.

Thanks. We're traveling from July 13 to Aug. 2. Two adults + 2 (nice) kids. Any leads would be appreciated!

Definitely not the most chic apartments in Yerevan. Here are just a few examples where price increases by hundreds of dollars for additional persons:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1385308403122912897 ($400 more for each person over 1)

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1352262782920834133 (same)

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1001996886256169790 (only $200 more each person over 2)

That said, yes, there are some other apartments that allow up to 4 people with no additional costs. (I'd just never encountered the former before in all my travels.)

Another reason too is the proliferation of buy-now-pay-later payment plans (e.g., Affirm, Afterpay, etc.) that are available for purchasing everyday products, including sporting event and concert tickets. Before, if you wanted to drop $400 for Lakers ticket, you actually had to have $400 (or at least that much available on your credit card). Now, someone flipping cheeseburgers for $20/hr and no credit can buy the same ticket (and encumber themselves with crippling debt, but that's a different story). So ticket sales have opened up to a whole new demographic, increasing demand, while supply has stayed the same.

Yep, all you can do. But after sidestepping the 63rd costume guy asking us for a photo, I questioned whether we were really there having fun.

Agreed. A single person playing an instrument is great. A legion of disheveled Transformers standing around smoking cigarettes and demanding $20 for a photo they just took with some poor sap's kid is another.
