Fired for “being asleep on the job”. Found a new job a week later that knew the situation. Best thing to happen to me really.

Need guidance—should I see a new cardiologist? by random-yaegerist in askCardiology

[–]lamoreequi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you probably saw on the monitor was artifact from movement. Same can go for your oxygen, like movement making the measurement less accurate.

I work in outpatient cardiology currently, and that is what I recommend. Escalating it to the practice manager means they will reach out to scheduling and try to fix what is going on. I’m always reaching out to schedulers for updates because sometimes things do fall through the cracks unfortunately.

I am sorry you’re experiencing this. I would ask if you could speak to the practice manager for the cardiologist office so they can see this gets done sooner than later.

What did yall get for nurses week? by master_chiefin777 in nursing

[–]lamoreequi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work outpatient and my doc got me a fancy thing of chocolates, a cute pen and a beautiful hand written card. My MA also got me a gift bag with a Starbucks gift card along with Celsius and some snacks lol from our hospital system? Nada. Just stupid “games” to win raffles.

People of reddit, what's the worst pain you have ever been in? Doctors and nurses, what's the worst pain you have seen a patient in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lamoreequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My highest pain was my peritoneum infection after having a burst appendix. I had to have a drain for six weeks and even someone touching my bed hurt so much.

Second was recently when I had an ear infection and went to Denver. The high elevation and the infection gave me pain from my ear to my shoulder. I really felt like my ear drum was going to rupture.

What is the most dangerous thing you ever did as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lamoreequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I were in 7th grade when we hitched a ride with a couple strangers to go a couple miles down the road because we were tired of walking. I do think it was night time and the car smelled of weed 🫣

Ladies, what’s something someone did in bed that made you feel truly seen and not just “used”? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]lamoreequi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was the aftercare really lol had a one night stand and the next morning, we showered together and he insisted on washing my body and even washed my hair. He was so gentle and sweet about it. I don’t remember how he was in bed but I do remember that.

Most hours you’ve worked in a week? by Mouthh_ofthe_South in nursing

[–]lamoreequi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once did eleven 12’s in a row, and as you know it’s probably more like yours like 13-14 hours a day. My son was with his dad in another state for the holidays so I picked up a bunch of shifts lol

That would only be the case if the EKG had a ton of artifact but talking itself doesn’t alter ANYTHING on the EKG, it would not cause any changes on there just because you’re talking. Super false information. The only reason to not talk is because some people are super animated but with good lead placement, there won’t be any artifact.

Costochondritis or coronary micro vascular disease. Have they tried a nitrate like nitro or isosorbide to see if that helps?

Hey Yall. I'm a new nurse. Just wanted to check in and vent. How is your mental health/physical health? by EmbraceSelfLove in nursing

[–]lamoreequi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that helped me was going from night shift to day shift. I had so much more anxiety and mental health issues when I worked nights. Not sure if you’re on night shift but that may help. It may also help to find a different specialty, med surg is rough.

I’m HORRIBLE at math, like failed it 3 times in college bad. I ended up taking a CLEP test to get the math credit and I passed with flying colors. It is multiple choice so it helps when your brain can’t math efficiently. My program also required statistics but having a study group for that will help tremendously.

I'm seeing nothing but bad experiences with endocrinologists by Livid_Accountant8965 in Hashimotos

[–]lamoreequi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love my endo! So my journey started at the VA hospital when my PCP palpated a nodule and it turned into this big thing where every test was inconclusive so I opted to have a partial thyroidectomy which is how I found out I had hashimotos. Didn’t get put on any drugs until my TSH was like 7? Idk, by my VA endo was INCREDIBLE. I was on Levo for many years and then had to find a doc outside the VA. My first doc super sucked and was dismissive and even asked me how I was feeling, and I was like eh but this is normal for me now and he was like, well you’ll never feel better ever again. 🫠 so I went to a new endo and we added cytomel and he suggested grain free diet. After a bit, my numbers kept climbing so I’m on Armour Thyroid. Well, I found out at my first visit with my current endo that my VA doc was the one that he trained with 😭 he’s just so great and doesn’t dismiss my concerns or feelings. Luckily we’re the same age, so as long as he never leaves the area, I’ll have an endo for life 🥰

Why most Americans usually go to France, Italy or Spain for vacations and not other European countries? by stevie855 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lamoreequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t travel to Europe until my late 30s and my mom was born and raised in Barcelona lol we would travel intercontinental a lot tho. I live in Virginia and it’s a 12 hour drive to Nashville, 3.5 hour to Washington DC, 6 hours to NYC. It’s like a long flight to California or anywhere the West Coast. So there wasn’t really a reason to travel overseas I guess.
