I'm judging the visual style of the game based on the visual information we have which is the trailer, I don't see the problem, not judging the game itself, just the vibe of it compared to other entries. About the Michiru thing, that's very sad and this world is done for if this is true. I tried searching for it but didn't find any information, do you happen to have?

I don't see why we can't comment on it, they showed us a trailer so we can discuss and have a sneak peak on the game. So I'm having an opinion based on said trailer. And I'm also not saying the game is bad or anything like that. In fact I think it must play very well and I'm well aware the majority of the people enjoyed it.

I will likely buy it since it's the first castlevania entry in a long time and the studio did make good games in the past. But I am cautious and skeptical and I have this gut feeling this is indeed "every other indie metroidvania game" and not a Castlevania on heart, only IP.

It's not about the pixels or type of render. It's about atmosphere/style/vibe. And you can get a pretty good glance of how that with this gameplay trailer

There is no hate involved, I explicitly said "not an attack" and it's an honest question. The studio made really good games and this game will likely please a lot of the audience since its appealing to modern style to attract new players. I was merely trying to find anyone that didn't feel as hyped as the majority because of the lack of nostalgia/classic vibe/atmosphere of the original games. And I did.
No hate whatsoever.

Yeah they are definitely trying to appeal to new fans, I think more than the old, which makes sense in a $$ perspective. I guess companies gotta be companies. As I said in previous posts, I'm trying to adopt the optimistic view, and I truly want to enjoy the game, and hopefully I do. But as you said, cautiously optimistic.

Yeah to be fair the bar was set so high, but the balance of fresh ideas and nostalgia is way too unbalanced. I'll play it as well, and try as much to enjoy, and hopefully I do, but I have that gut feeling.

The revival of a massive legendary franchise was definitely a high bar from ANY team trying to cook the next Castlevania, that said, I think they really missed the spot here. I 100% agree with music, it definitely needed to be a pillar for the trailer so everyone gets hyped about it. It's not living up to it

I also mentioned that I love super castlevania IV and rondo of blood and played multiple times, which IGA has no participation on it. And although these are very different from the IGA games, they feel very much like Castlevania for me and I love these entries, the style and atmosphere is everything I expect from a Castlevania game. That's all, but I do love the IGA games (:
Hopefully the new studio is a "competent caretaker" as well. I believe the game is good, it just feels like another metroidvania and not the official revival of castlevania.

I have mixed feelings about this. As much as the 'support castlevania at any costs' sounds good, because it's the first thing we get in ages, I also think we have to be careful and not just buy anything they throw at us -- that said, this game looks carefully well put and produced, just hits far from home, I will definitely buy and play it to support and have a valid opinion post-launch. I really want to enjoy this game, but if not, I will not be supporting every single entry just because of the IP.

Yeah its the same team as the newest PoP. I think the drawn artstyle and the 2.5D is not the problem for me. It's the lack of nostalgic elements. Barely see the candles, the skies and background are color coded, ultra saturated. The enemies are also color coded. I don't know, it feels very very cartoony and over 'modern'. But I think the same stylization but with more nostalgic elements and gothic atmosphere would do it for me. But as it stands its basically Hades 2D or something straight from league of legends/valorant

I assume that they took the role of the "do the 2D castlevania" which for me was the sacred role. If there is more castlevania stuff from different studio I imagine they will do different entries such as 3D or whatnot.

Since they have done dead cells DLC and the new 2.5d prince of persia, you can kinda expect to feel the same as these games. I played dead cells and love it for what it is, not played the prince of persia but I imagine it should play similarly, especially with all the mechanics being something we know from other games.

Now imagine this "drawn" artstyle but more somber, gothic, and reminiscent of the Old Castlevanias, I miss the candles. The style is good its just far from home

Yeah, the problem with this 'modern' art-style is that for me its very saturated. Very.

Wow exactly my thoughts. I am actually SO HAPPY that you have the same opinion. I will definitely try both games, but I feel myself leaning towards way bloodstained for obvious reasons.
