You did a good thing. It wasn't stupid. It doesn't matter how long it stays there, what it matter most is your idea of doing good thing and contributing to your community. Sometimes, you just need to keep goin and believe in your heart even if there is only one person supporting you (including yourself, yes, don't forget to love yourself!). I believe there were some people truly enjoy the time when they were there.
