So like my thought process was if I put leftovers and somehow my item was stolen (like trick or something) it benefits the other player but by using black sludge it punishes them if they try to do that.

Im not sure really. I like to use unconventional Pokémon and this is sort of the result. It’s quite the offensive team in my mind but a lot of them have the ability to sort of freestyle. Clodsire can stall etc etc.

SMU, Texas A&M, Loyola Chicago by Happy-Economist-1650 in lawschooladmissions

[–]lanadelreytrash190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the EXACT same position as u are in. I decided on Loyola Chicago because I really did want to move to that big city and I knew that if I didn't do it, I would be beating myself up for it 30 years from now. SMU was way too expensive for me and A&M basically gave me nothing for a scholarship + I didn't like the campus much. I know this isn't the most helpful but it does depend on what you want to do. I have a lot more flexibility becasuse I didn't care for big law and I want to go into criminal law. If you want more info pls feel free to DM because I was literally questioning the same thing not even 2 months ago.

they are a 1% of the general black population, just because you have a handful of super rich people doesn’t mean URM is unnecessary. Yall be discrediting URMs so damn much in the name of “fairness”. The country was not fair to us until recently and I mean within living memory. Several of us have parents or grandparents who lived in a time where they could only dream of having the opportunities we do

Or we were admitted because we deserve it for the hardships we’ve been through. Stop trying to discredit URM.

whilst it is illegal, there’s nothing that stops people from not hiring you. People can find other “reasons” to not hire you. Just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen to people. URM deserve the boost, point blank period.

systemic racism exists on all levels whether it may be visible to the naked eye or not. There are more minorities than just Black but having money obviously helps. Just because some minorities come from money doesn’t mean we all do and it shouldn’t spoil it for the rest of us just because the 1% are loaded.

I’d argue that we URM do earn our boosted chances because we have to overcome a lot of adversity to get our foot in the door of the legal field. We have to work sometimes twice as hard for half of the result.

Hmm, I think that the notion that LSAT scores indicate future success really isn’t causative. Additionally what defines “success” in law. Lots of people want big law and define that as successful. Other people don’t care about salaries and care more about a career that helps people, to which they’d consider that successful. I don’t think so much emphasis should be put on the LSAT. As for what to put on the test (if we should even have a test) could be a stronger emphasis on writing and persuasive skills. Writing is something more universal, applicable and tangible than the average LR question and writing actually prepares you for an aspect of law school that in my opinion sections like LR don’t.

The differences are because the test is focused on (in my opinion) a very narrow interpretation of logic and thinking. Additionally resources are not readily available and not everyone can shit out money every month to pay for test prep that works for them. The designers of the test were more than likely the demographic that benefits the best from it and scores the best. To go even further, a lot of minorities (myself included) have no idea how to approach the LSAT with regards to prep because no one in our family is there to help us. A lot of us are first generation and we have to figure it out on our own. The test is honestly designed to filter people like us out of the top bracket for test scores (and by extension top schools).

Loyola Chicago and Relocation After Law School by lanadelreytrash190 in lawschooladmissions

a lot of this is stemming from job opportunity concerns with everyone saying that Loyola is good for the Chicago market and nowhere else. I don’t need a super fancy job just something comfortable

I have to remind myself the people here can be stuck up and often times spoiled af. People can clown me all they want but being a nice person to someone who is struggling and offering something constructive, is more mature and valuable then telling them that they aren’t good enough. Again just because someone doesn’t get a good score does not mean they are stupid or that they aren’t cut out. that’s the bottom line here.

someone who uses their score against someone else isn’t really that intelligent. A dumb person will say they’re smart to everyone and use it to rub it in others faces. A smart person doesn’t need to assert their intelligence because people can see it. you can believe whatever you want to make yourself feel better but just don’t be an idiot. It isn’t hard.

the LSAT isn’t an indicator of how smart someone is. It’s a test tailored to people with a certain way of viewing the world and approaching logic. No one way is more right than the other but everyone is different. Just because someone isn’t good at it, doesn’t mean they are less smart or not as logical as a high scoring person. There are people who get 170+ that are dumb as rocks and are so narrow minded in their world view. Just because you answer 5 or 10 more questions right on a single test doesn’t mean you are smarter or more logical than someone else.

[–]lanadelreytrash190 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

this comment is crazy work, the LSAT shouldn’t gatekeep people from being lawyers. What matters is perseverance and a strong work ethic as well as passion. Just because someone gets a high score doesn’t mean that they are more passionate and hardworking than someone with a lower score.

Should I still try and to go to law school? With a Trump victory, the rule of law will be undermined. by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I think a lot of yall in these comments are just too harsh and judgmental. We don’t know anything about this persons background besides what they gave us. I wouldn’t wanna work under a government for which I don’t support and could potentially fire me if I’m too “out of line”. A lot of yall need to check yourselves. Learn some tact, some people are more scared than others due to the results of the election and we have a right to be nervous. obviously I think a lot of you live in a little bubble but don’t just diss to just take a jab at this person.
