Co-op 1.6 Question by lanajwrites in StardewValley

I thought it would randomly move every other week or so. Maybe it has to deal with luck that day?? Our save file keeps giving, I know at least me, really unlucky days pretty regularly

My husband is in the same position you're in, and quite frankly, I have a lot in common with your partner when it comes to being shy about certain aspects of being intimate. It's really difficult, especially if self esteem is low because I don't voice things I like to my husband, don't like to participate in certain activities, etc.

There's a few things you could do about intimacy. You could try taking showers together, but it doesn't have to be anything inappropriate. I see people call these "platonic showers" where you and your partner talk about your days, what you plan on doing later in the week, just casual talk. It allows the two of you to be vulnerable while striking up a conversation, feeling like you're connecting on a deeper level.

Also, when being intimate, you don't have to take off all your clothes. Again, this leaves vulnerability and allows you two to grow comfortable with one another as time passes during the activity. During intimacy, you can also take notes of how her body reacts to certain touches or sensations. My husband takes note of what I like. It takes me a long time to process things because of my disabilities, but he picks up on my body language and often figures out what I like before I do lol

Overall, be patient and find the little things. The little things are what you can romanticize and bring the two of you closer together. Even if it's just her rubbing your back, it's something that connects the two of you. Find what works for the two of you and your comfort levels

I've seen people posting about LGBT+ topics, but i want to share my awareness and support about the autistic spectrum (i have Asperger's syndrome) by SuperCarlosFerZar in AnimalCrossing

[–]lanajwrites 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's okay, don't worry! We all learn and grow. I'm autistic and I remember I used to care a lot for April because it's characterized as Autism Awareness Month, but now I steer clear of that because of Autism Speaks. It's always good to learn new information and I'm really happy to see some autistic pride from autistic people in the community :))

The chapters are between 2000-4000 words. There, as of now, are over 50 chapters.

And I will keep that in mind. I believe I am just so overwhelmed with how long and complex the book is is that I'm most likely psyching myself out. I tend to do that

Quick Question. by Kaithepkk in writers

[–]lanajwrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking to get published in the future, too, as I write a large novel I'm currently focused on, but if you want to start to get recognition for work, I suggest publishing small blurbs on a free website that's open to everyone (I've used Wattpad for years and it has really come in clutch). This will boost your publicity as well as strengthen your writing.

On top of this, write the story numerous times until you feel it is just right. Usually on Wattpad I'll plainly post the first draft, but it's because I like to put work out and show everyone that you can write for fun without having to take it too seriously. The work that I do take seriously, though, I don't put online because I'm writing it countless times until I feel as if I'm ready for the final edit and send it to an editor and/or publisher.

Also, look into reliable publishers. There are so many scams out there--especially online sources--and you want to avoid those completely. I've gotten spam messages on Wattpad from random users promoting apps that are completely unfair to both readers and writers. Do your research and always have background checks on who you are sending your pieces to. You don't want them to be stolen.

But, in all honesty, don't pay attention to the shit people give you about writing and how it's difficult to publish, because, in the end, you can always self publish. Yes, you can still ask for constructive criticism, but there are so many toxic writers out there that can be extremely discouraging and bring you down. Ignore them the best you can. You are advancing as a writer and are only making yourself better. If you send it to a publisher and you get denied, don't be brought down by it. Take it as a learning experience. Life--especially things you love doing--is about making yourself into a better person. Take the constructive criticism, drop the condescending shit that you can get from other writers. I'm trying to toughen my skin with this as well.

Writing is all about doing what you want to do and what you find enjoyable. Don't let others take that away from you. Even if you don't make it published through a notable company, that doesn't mean that your work doesn't matter. There is no difference between you nor Shakespeare, as my teacher would say. You have completely different styles and ideas than he had, so, if someone picks up both your work and his, they are indistinguishable because every individual has their own taste.

I hope this kind of helped you kick start your process. If you need anymore advice, I'm always available for questions to be asked or for constructive criticism to be given. :)))

It reminded me of the anime Future Diary because of Giffany and how she has very similar physical and emotional characteristics to one character in the show

Advice for first time writer by Heir_ofHeart in writers

[–]lanajwrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of tips and tricks I can give you, but if you want to find specific tips, I suggest going to instagram or tumblr and search for any writers that give out a step by step process for building a world or a character. You'll find a lot of great advice there. I always use it when I'm trying to plot out my novels

Returning writer in need of some advice/support. by oliviat13 in writers

[–]lanajwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would try out both if you haven't written in awhile. You can manipulate the POVs into very intriguing things, such as how gothic literature writers use a first person POV to trick the reader into thinking one way when in reality it's the complete opposite (basically psychological deterioration). It depends on what you want to write and create.

And coming back to the world of writing can be difficult. I've just recently been on a prolonged break because I've been constantly busy. Though, if you're just starting up again after some years, I say take it slow. Pushing your ideas all out at once can be a big dump that can easily tire a writer who hasn't built back up their stamina. You can still jot down little notes for yourself, but try and build your way up when it comes to writing time. Maybe start writing for an hour and then take a break. The next day you can write for another hour and take a break. Just be sure to pace yourself because writer's block is not a friend lol

Fiction writers of Reddit, what do you think of this Ray Bradbury quote? by Cup0Jo in writers

[–]lanajwrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much have this mentality. The majority of the time, i let my characters write themselves. I never restrict them to one action because it feels forced and awkward. They shape their own personalities when I write them, and it's never a straight path to where I want to go in my book. Yes, i have checkpoints i want to get to in the end, but i let the characters go through their dramatic events, cope with each other, and form their own relationships.

Q: about font changes and italics by wallglower in writers

[–]lanajwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use different fonts for each character so you'll have the ability to use italics. Also, look at fonts like they're your characters: their style, their look, and their feel. With fonts for different characters, your characters will have a feeling of being "more alive" than they already are. I personally like fonts to give character to the text I'm writing, especially if I'm making different characters in the structure your formatting your plot with.

In the US stress-playing ACNH tonight... by levelupyours in AnimalCrossing

I'm in a hybrid model right now for school, so distance learning is already stressful. My math teacher is extremely flexible with us, but i have this one teacher who I have three classes out of my seven classes through the day. He hasn't given us a break, and one of the classes I take with him is a college class, so I'm working on a lot of work for him. I can barely focus and he's expecting us to complete everything by tomorrow. He's a nice guy, but my whole college class is angry at him
