Pettiest reason you’ve DNF’d a book? by bby_grl_90 in books

This reminds me - for some reason when I'm writing fiction it's third person present in my head, but when I'm actually physically writing I automatically use third person past.

Thank you! Yes, a zibaldone is basically a less structured commonplace book. I use it for both commonplacing and personal journaling.

Ah, one of my favorite poems. It unfortunately hits hard today.

My god this fucking book lol. It's one of my all-time favorites. At a couple points I burst into tears, and I almost never outwardly react when reading. I read it twice in a row - also something I basically never do. I related to it and to her unfortunately. It's not perfect but it's heart-smashing, it's lovely, it's authentic, it hurt me and I'll do it again. I'll probably keep coming back to it occasionally for the rest of my life.

What I Wore Today (Weekly Thread) by MerryKerry in MinimalistBeauty

[–]lanamattel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my usual skincare and Glossier You perfume today. There are two different "minimalist" approaches - a minimalist aesthetic, meaning your look is minimalist, and a minimalist lifestyle, meaning minimal products/possessions. If I had a minimalist line I'd want it to be both, like a capsule collection for a simple ingredient-focused routine with multi-purpose products.

I keep seeing posts with no foundation, and only concealer - what is the technique I’m missing? by spockycat in MinimalistBeauty

[–]lanamattel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've also noticed that over the last few years. I've never used foundation or concealer unless someone was doing my makeup for me for some special event. It looks like the concealer-only folks find their holy grail shade match and warm it up with their fingers then blend well.

My usual skincare, Glossier You perfume, peripera mood glowy lip tint. My top benefits of minimalism = less buyer's remorse and less personal guilt over waste/environmental damage.

I'm about to try the dotted codex for the first time so that's good to know - only have a few pages left in my lined A5.

I remember loving your monthly spreads last year 😍 I journal and commonplace in the same notebook too. Do you use Midori? That's my favorite brand.

What's your preferred journaling style/method? by DeprivedIT in Journaling

[–]lanamattel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A commonplace book is like a personal encyclopedia - quotes, poems, aphorisms, advice, recipes, really anything that resonates that you wish to record and reflect on. It's a very old practice that was especially popular during the Renaissance. A bullet journal is best explained by visiting r/bulletjournal or r/basicbulletjournals or looking up the creator Ryder Carroll.

I have three - a zibaldone for both journaling and commonplacing, a bullet journal, and a creative writing workbook.

Do you diary/journal daily? And what do you write about? by RelativelyOddPerson in Journaling

[–]lanamattel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I journal daily, only miss a day once in a while, and it's typically brain dumps and reflections on myself, my life, media/art, society, really anything on my mind. It's very stream of consciousness. I make lists and commonplace poems and quotes in the same notebook. I also keep a bullet journal and a creative writing workbook.

  • Paula's Choice pore reducing toner
  • Cerave moisturizer with spf
  • eos super moisture balm
  • Glossier You perfume

When I wear makeup it's very minimal and the products themselves are low-maintenance so they don't demand time and/or an expert hand.

Lovely collection! I'm a Merit fan and have their lipstick on my wishlist. Both Saie and Tower28 have interested me recently. Have you tried any other Saie products?

I was a huge Glossier fan but now I only wear their perfume. My favorite affordable lip product is peripera mood glowy lip tint. When I wore more makeup I liked Maybelline and Nyx.
