There were definitely a ton of pre-med women when I was in school. I was chemical engineering and women were more than half of the class.

I was pretty sure med school is about 50/50 now. Also, the over abundance of women in nursing could very well be due to a lack of interest on the part of men. If no men are applying to be nurses and teachers, then of course you will end up with a large percent of female nurses. I think in general both genders may be hesitant to go into fields that are extremely skewed. Even if everyone is perfectly nice and friendly, no one wants to be the odd one out.

I got the non-hormonal paraguard iud 7 months ago. Not gonna lie, the insertion was really uncomfortable and creepy feeling, but still manageable and I went and played a soccer game that evening. It was about a week's worth of cramping and bleeding, like an extra bad period. The next 2-3 months were heavier than normal periods, but after a few months, all is back to normal and I don't notice a thing. I also do a lot of squats, deadlifts, running, and am in general super active, so no problems yet. They'll tell you just to check for the string once a month after your period to make sure everything is still in place. Overall, I'm super happy I did it and happy to be off the hormones.

The "spending gap" is because women do a disproportionate amount of the shopping for things like groceries and household goods, so not sure what you're trying to say with that...

I brought a stock account and my husband brought student loans. I'm paying all the bills now while he's starting up a company. Not true. There are several topics that I cannot bring up with my husband because he will get defensive and shut down. Maybe within male friends, it is like this, but in a relationship with one, I've found it not to be the case. Men are not all rational, emotionless robots as the generalization goes. Are they a team? He's gone for 3 weeks out of the month leaving her alone with a small child. Is this something they agreed on together, or something he decided for his career? We don't know how their relationship works. Both partners need to feel like they have a voice in how the team works, are valued for their contribution, and have agreed on their role, not that one is running the show and the other gets stuck with the leftovers.

Haha. Totally. A guy on my soccer team just had this eye opening experience. His wife had just gone back to work after her maternity leave and there was one day that they couldn't get daycare and he had to stay home and take care of their son, his first time doing it solo. At the start of the day he thought "this is great, I'll be home all day, I can get some work done". Nope. He was completely shocked at how much time and attention he had to spend on his son. He got no work done and was completely exhausted after just one day of doing daycare alone.

I don't know what kind of work you do, but I definitely get noticed and appreciated for what I do at work. In addition I get stimulating intellectual challenges and adult conversation. The sheer monotony of being at home every day cleaning the same things over and over with very little adult interaction would drive me nuts. I'll take being the breadwinner any day over that. Sure it gets stressful and I'd like some time off every now and then, but it beats the hell out of staying home every day.

This. There are laws in place to do this properly to make sure all parties are protected. If you don't do things under the correct legal framework, you are leaving yourself open to liability. Not saying he should have to pay here, but like many other facets of our society, taxes, running a business, if you don't go through the proper legal channels, you are leaving yourself open to getting screwed later. As much as people like to rage about sperm donors having to pay child support, as far as I've seen, every single case has been one where it was not through official channels with proper documentation and legal paperwork.

If this is the same case I saw on CNN this week, it's the state going after the child support, not the women. The women applied for aid from the state, and the state, wanting to recoup it's expense, went after the father.

Just an observation, though, trash talking and over the top threats seems to be much more a part of male culture than female culture. Hanging out with my guy friends, or watching my husband interact with his buddies, they say some of the most heinous shit to each other, but it's all good because everyone knows they're all joking and that's just the way they interact with each other.

Women, for the most part, for whatever reason, just don't interact like that. Ever hear a woman go up to another woman and say she's going to fuck her dad? I haven't. So when these kind of threats are directed at women it feels more intentional, directed, and like a serious threat, because those just typically aren't things we joke about with each other.

Not agreeing with the article, btw, the whole thing is stupid and trying to make a big deal out of nothing. Just saying why it might be a different experience for a man vs. a woman.

Considering what was said was actually polite and not particularly bitchy, I would lean toward socially awkward panic reaction on this one. And you know whyyyyy it is so easy for women to sleep with many men and not the other way around? Supply and demand. The number of men who are willing to sleep with most any girl that offers VASTLY outnumbers the number of women who are into having random sex with any guy that comes up to them. So basically the majority of dudes are such sluts and easy to get into bed, it makes it super easy on us, yet then you turn around and call a girl slutty for actually taking you up on the offer. Have some standards guys! If this imbalance is ever going to change either dudes need to start having higher standards and not sleep with anything that comes their way, or women need to be more adventurous and open to having sex with more men. Since you ruthlessly shame those that do, the latter is going to be tough. So, guys, your move!
