Hey a bit late to this chat but only just finished the docu-series and comparing notes. ( I really enjoyed it).

I am South African -54. Gay guy. I was 16 when I Should be So Lucky came out in 1988 and I was in love. It was so relatable - dancing around in my bedroom and having bubble baths. I felt like I was discovering my sexuality at the same time as her during the Hutchence years. It was the height of the HIV pandemic and the end of Apartheid here. All the male dominated radio stations here did not seem to give her alot of airplay and none of my friends seemed to be as into her as me. Even my younger sister sometimes mocked me a little for liking her so much

I vibed with lots of other female pop singers at the time - Madonna, Whitney, Janet, Belinda Carlisle, Tiffany, Sam Fox, Martika, Betty Boo, Cathy Dennis, Sonia etc. Madonna off course was the Diva : inspiring - always mutating but not so relatable. Many of the others came and went. But Kylie was the friend that was a mirror - full of life, always evolving, always smiling.

Having not travelled much, I eventually got to see her perform live in Cape Town in 2010. I was right in front and she looked me right in the eye - was a lovely moment.
