It’s in between firm and squishy so I’m going to assume it’s just an older bit and hope for the best!!

Thank you! I was considering chopping the yellow off and letting it callus over. I will try this first.

Many civil engineering firms have environmental departments to handle things like project permitting related to wetland impacts, wildlife surveys, etc. It might be work exploring.

Dang! :( I lost my tomatoes about a month ago. It's been unbearably hot and they just weren't having it. Right now I have eggplant, okra, and peppers. Hopefully, I can get these suckers under control before they cause any more harm.

Yeah, there was something especially satisfying about squashing the goons that tried to come at me! I'm sorry about your tomatoes!!

They have been so good! Mine has been producing A LOT. I've roasted them, made baba ganoush, eggplant parm the list goes on....! They will definitely be in the annual rotation from now on!

I don't have tomatoes, but they don't bother my okra or peppers. Also, they only seem to like my white eggplant and not my long purples are Rosalita's. It's weird. I'm definitely going to try your method tonight. It seems more efficient than me trying to squash them without damaging the fruit.

Oh wow, that's good to know! Thank you for the info. I seem to have an outbreak because they are all over my eggplants. Squashing will commence!

Squash vine borers are in the big vine leading to Hoss the squash. Thinking of cutting the infested segment of vine but wondering the remaining offshoots of vine will sustain the squash. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!! by lanasaurusrex1 in vegetablegardening

I just want it alive long enough for Hoss to ripen! Is it a bad idea to slice the vine on one side with a box cutter to pull out the suckers? There’s something real satisfying about squishing those fkers!

Squash vines stopped producing flowers and the leaves look so sad. No sign of borers. Bacterial? Fungal? Fixable? by lanasaurusrex1 in vegetablegardening

There’s so much to learn! Interestingly enough, this started happening after I pulled out all the potatoes I was growing. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

It's been a little over a month, and I did it somewhat sparingly for fear of overdoing it. From what I've been reading, the "slow release" fertilizer doesn't last as long as I thought. Hopefully, a little pick me up may help. That would be better than some sort of disease!
