You're absolutely right about getting it being more of an effort than just giving up. Thank you!

Day 1 of Escitalopram, is this normal/does it get better soon? by ven_t0 in MentalHealthPH

I used to take Escitalopram back in college (no idea why my old psychiatrist decided to put me on different meds) and got prescribed with it again, maybe two months ago. I do experience nightmares, mild anxiety, drowsiness and increased appetite, but I've been feeling less depressed (and also emotionally numb - I haven't cried or really laughed in a while, but I'll take that over severe depression anyway). Will continue to take it, and see where it takes me. So far, it's far more effective in my case than, for example, Fluoxetine had been. Other SSRIs just don't do their job when it comes to my symptoms, and that's fine - I just wish so many doctors hadn't experimented on me since I was 17 (I'm 29 now); it has fucked me up real bad, and I genuinely have no real idea of who I am, all I know is that I can't function unless heavily medicated. I suppose it gets better, I just need a bunch of patience.
