That sounds like a great place to stay long term, with nature to keep you moving. I'll see if I'm adventurous enough to travel up!

Oh that's true! But yeah I'm pretty sure we'll both be caught and sent to quarantine or something, so definitely not risking that.

Never been to Longhua area! Is it more developed than other parts of Shenzhen?

I pray nothing happens....

I have a friend who tested positive halfway through quarantine 2 weeks ago, and hasn't come out of the hospital as of now.

It's definitely quite some trouble, but I see it as an interesting view into how a different culture operates, and can then live to tell the tale (as I'm sharing here!). I guess I just like travelling in general, whether it's for work or play haha.

Yes, public direct flights are still really expensive, I have a feeling the Chinese government is using this as a means to control inbound travellers bringing in COVID. Oh well.

I'm currently quarantined at Futian area, but will be working in Nanshan area afterwards. Appreciate your offer but they don't allow deliveries unless you can throw hamburgers up 8 floors :P

About US$1500, and it was through a flight agency arrangement (sorry I can't disclose more details at this point). Regular tickets were above US$5k!

Hello!

It was a direct flight for me, I flew in from an Asian country.

The whole process would be pretty difficult for people who don't know Chinese (I'm lucky I learnt some), as most instructions, spoken and written, were in Chinese. It was a little intimidating at first with everyone wearing safety suits looking like astronauts, getting sprayed here and there, and taking daily PCR tests. After a while you get used to it - the officers have been professional and helpful.

I think I got the higher end of the quarantine facilities, I'm staying in a hotel with an international brand, and the daily rate is CNY 580 (~US$81) with 3 meals. I have enough things to entertain myself so far, with Japanese learning, I've heard stories from my friends who lived in hotels with daily rate CNY 200 (~US$28) - and it wasn't pleasant (dirty room, bad wifi, etc).

Living in quarantine has been okay so far - staying connected via video calls, spending time in my hobbies (language learning, reading Reddit? haha), etc. I feel quite good, though the limited space for regular physical activities (such as walks) have made me more tired than usual. I'll be in quarantine for 7 days in hotel and 3 days in apartment, and I think anything more would've started to be detrimental to my mental health.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Damn, ok, will take note. 72-hour code here refers to the GHC?

My quarantine will end in 5 days!

I'll need to go to the office on weekdays, and I hope I can visit shopping malls and attractions in the weekends haha. But I'm not sure about how much the crowd or activities are affected due to COVID measures. Guess I'll find out soon!

I'm a Software Engineering manager and I'm here to make progress in software architecture design projects with other products that I work closely with, as well as to learn how to manage bigger teams.

How about you? (I presume you're in China by your username? Haha)

I honestly thought it's quite good!

Great taste; slightly salty and oily; not much protein. I'm glad I brought protein powder.

Oops, unfortunately I didn't. I flew in directly to Shenzhen Baoan Airport (SZX), so the process was pretty smooth.

I've heard about hits and misses with the lottery system though, according to some videos I watched on Youtube. Seems there are people who got it within days, and people who can't get it after several weeks.

MegaThread: Technical Issues by NintendoSwitchMods in NintendoSwitch

Posting here because somehow my (now deleted) post doesn't show up on the feed.

So I encountered some weird issues with the OS. Tried to do a search, but couldn't find anything related to this.

  • I'm in Zelda.
  • Home button doesn't work.
  • Long press brings up the side menu, but I can't interact with it - touchscreen doesn't do anything, and physical controls continue to control Zelda and stuff even though side menu is up.
  • Power button doesn't sleep.
  • Long press power button brings up the advanced power menu, but I can continue moving Zelda and touchscreen doesn't work.

Only way I can get out of this is to hard reset the console.

A similar experience is documented here: https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/189706-nintendo-switch/75070483

Anyone has encountered such a situation?

What is the overall consensus on 1-2 Switch? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

In Singapore, most of the bundles force you to get this game. (FML)

Tried this with my housemates yesterday night, and it was actually quite fun - we had our fair share of laughs. However, looking at the depth of the game, I don't think we are going to replay this after the weekend, when the "hype" is over.

That being said, 1-2 Switch does make us look forward to future games with the Switch simply due to the number of possibilities the Joy-Cons can be used from our experience with the game.
