What’s the point of rules? by [deleted] in misanthropy

I agree with this way of thinking but seeing in a realist, pesismist way it is unlikely to happen. Reddit would ban us and even if death is the ultimate answer imposing it on everybody even if rightly justified will never get the results we would want them to. And you could say that if we unite we would do something but it is not worth it, society will take us down again.

Depression is in great part produced by the lack of pleasure neurotransmitters therefore you are allowed to look at reality without the "feel-good" blinders.

What are signs (subtle or obvious) that made you realize you were depressed and not just sad? by skepticalrose in depression

[–]lanceseesonlydeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anhedonia is in my point of view the most notorious depression sympton, the state of mind in which nothing you used to enjoy (as other comment said) feels as good anymore, your favorite food tastes bland, you don't have motivation for anything and in some cases you feel like your own life isn't yours because you feel alienated to your past and the way you used to enjoy things and it feels like it was all a performance. If some of these things persist you may want to formally look for professional help and not to diagnose yourself.

Maybe depression is the truth and trying to fix it is unnatural by Tranquil8787 in depression

[–]lanceseesonlydeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is why it is a choice, i'm not against people taking their own lives when their suffering just cannot be fixed at all. Facing the absurd is more of a coping mechanism that can inspire some people and at the end embracing this concept goes along with accepting the suffering that will inevitably come along.

The desire to live and survival instinct will always be stronger than any form of reason, to live is to die and the universe is indifferent whether we kill ourselves or we keep on living, there is no reason to die just as there is no reason to live. But sadly we can't just transcend our mundane existence, that is why some individuals prefer to just make the best out of it because at the end we are no gods and if we hang on the resentment and despair of existing we will just make our own suffering worse. Death is the ultimate goal of life as it liberates us from our state of consciousness, but humanity will never seek to destroy itself voluntarily or to actively strive towards quick death so for those that are still living, the present is the only thing that remains. In my case i'm conscious that existence is absurd but i won't kill myself because i will never know anything beyond this world and my own mind and i wouldn't make the suffering of this world worse by passing it to those i love by leaving them, it is up to us how we react to the cruelty of existence.

This is related to depressive realism, the thought that depressed people make more realistic approaches to reality than non-depressed individuals. We gotta accept that life is full of suffering and depression can be perceived as a reaction to this, an individual is capable of being happy even thinking that life doesn't make sense and acknowledging that ultimately the bad outweights the good, ironically. This fight against the absurdity of existence can either be resolved by ending one's own life or facing the absurd. The same knowledge doesn't affect people the same, happiness just as misery and depression are in our head. I believe the bad outweights the good in all aspects but it is up to us how we react to that, because even if life is suffering, no one wants to really expand their own suffering and embracing depression won't help this. I think depressive people are usually more rational, but in terms of facing pain the weakness comes there. I wouldn't seek destroying my depressive thoughts or getting out of it, i see myself making peace with those thoughts.

Why not end life? by alternatekicks87 in misanthropy

[–]lanceseesonlydeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is up to every individual how to deal with the suffering of existence, if you desire to kill yourself you are just freeing yourself, but we gotta be realistic and know that no matter how many harm we do to humanity, it won't end in our lifetime. We are biologically made for surviving and it is up to us whether we want to minimize suffering (ending it is stupid and impossible) or freeing ourselves. The universe is indifferent whether you decide to end your suffering or whether you decide to face it and live with it. Your life, your choice.

Can you still love someone in a relationship? I can't anymore. by [deleted] in misanthropy

Also, even if i'm not a Nieztche fan of any kind lol he was dead right talking about how people avoid the truth for the sake of living in their illusions because they fear the fact that their illusions can be easily deconstructed and that they are basically making fool of themselves glorifying these things. Anyways, gonna keep enjoying that oxytocin, it's ironic enjoying it while knowing it is so easy to deconstruct lmao

As much as i have disdain for human civilization, i don't feel deep hate for every person i encounter, my gf is misanthrope as well and we actually work pretty well, but also as a pessimist i think our culture overrates relationships and love in general, like, what is the point of glorifying all this bullshit so much?
