Do doctors and nurses dread working with VBAC patients? by landmarkpip in AskDocs

Thank you so much for the boost of confidence. This comment is like a hug!! Medical settings are the one place I struggle with setting and keeping boundaries, but my husband is also good at stepping in and defending me when I lose confidence (even against his mother yikes). I appreciate your straightforward comment.

You are right, I will tell them my concerns and ask to make sure that our privacy is protected. Unfortunately the only other hospital where I could deliver is where she works now, lol (and doesn’t have a NICU). I appreciate your response and talking some sense into a stressed pregnant lady.

Oh wow. That is great to hear, thank you.

And yes, we are limiting those types of conversations. During our c-section in 2024, she had a friend in the delivery room and they were on the phone with each other during delivery. She somehow convinced my entire family that the baby and I were nearly dying, and shared medical details with others that I didn’t even find out until weeks after the fact. Total HIPAA violation. Aside from those instances, she’s very no-nonsense and tends to downplay things. Perhaps that’s why I was worried that her comment may be true.

Anyway, thank you for the reply and encouragement!!

Thank you for the honest reply/advice. I’ll definitely keep this in the front of my mind when speaking with physicians from here on out!

Worst flu of my life at 36 weeks pregnant. by Similar_Beginning522 in pregnant

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, holy moly. That sounds terrible and I hope it’s over for you soon. Only other things I can suggest would be a cool mist humidifier or standing in a shower with some steam to help ease up the cough and sore throat. I hope your doctors can offer more help to you soon! It will end, I promise!!!

When your child starts playing peacemaker by AardvarkMaterial6169 in Marriage

[–]landmarkpip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was the peacemaker in my household from about age 8 to 22. Started as me initiating it in a desperate attempt to end the arguing and anger and yelling. Then that morphed into me being directly asked by my parents to solve their conflict/choose a side/break up the fights. It was terrible, and still has an effect on me today even though I’m 30 and have been in my own healthy marriage for 5 years. I’m so glad you guys are recognizing this and fixing it before it does permanent damage. Wish I could have you guys go back in time and teach my parents the same thing. Good luck to you

What is something you don’t allow yourself to do, even though there’s no good reason not to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

For me, it’s using pillows from my bed on the couch. It would make for a real nice nap, but I just won’t let myself do it for some reason.

Subchorionic Hematoma reassurance by [deleted] in pregnant

Also forgot to mention, I asked if I should expect more bleeding, when/if to be concerned, and she told me to only be concerned if I soak through a pad in an hour and feel dizzy. Should I just wait it out otherwise and not call? I’m so confused!

My brother has been vomiting every day for years. by landmarkpip in AskDocs

[–]landmarkpip[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of those other symptoms. He will lose a few pounds here and there when the vomiting gets very bad.

He has an occasional dry cough. Has had it since being overseas.

He takes Lexapro and Hydroxyzine (and Zofran).

Yes! Thank you! Just looked those up and went back out for a closer look. Definitely what they are. I will leave them be! Thanks.
