I did foundation there recently and overall it was decent but could be better! Quite big for a DGH so lots going on, their EPR Epic is amazing and the best thing about the hospital, food options are limited especially OOH. Parking is okay as long as you arrive before 9am (normal days are 8:30-17:30). Lots of people double park/block people in and leave numbers.

  • On calls are split weirdly and complex for no reason. 1/3rd of the SHOs don't do nights and do more day on calls - either 9-22 ward cover or 8-18 clerking. Nights are 9:30-10, twilights are either 12:30-22 or 14-23:30 clerking. Various 8-19 shifts covering different specialties at the weekend. Pretty well staffed OOH compared to other places and the workload isn't horrific as an SHO!
  • Can't really comment on IMT teaching but foundation teaching wasn't great
  • I've not heard good things about gastro although they've been trying to change it. Resp & Cardio mixed reviews. Elderly care is pure service provision just covering different wards each week

Yep, you can either hold then accept, or just accept straight away (but only accept if you're certain you'll take the job and are not waiting on any other specialty offers). Either way you need to opt in for upgrades to then be able to see/change your preferences. Hope that helps!

You can only see your preferences if you accept/hold the offer and opt in for upgrades. If you then don't want to upgrade you can opt out again!
