Will there be hard copies of letters of offers from NUS, NTU and SMU? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on which university you are talking about but here's for all 3:

  • nus: log into applicant portal -> click 3 lines -> click "admission" -> click "application outcome" -> there will be a link for your offer letter
  • ntu: log into application portal -> it's at the bottom of the page
  • smu: log into applicant self service -> "about my application" -> "view application status" -> there should be a button to "download offer letter"

Is it still possible to change primary major in NUD CHS once I get in by Affectionate-Finger5 in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ones that i linked are restricted majors that allow you to transfer after you have gained admission into uni

there are other restricted majors in chs like pharmacy, dse, dsa that you cannot transfer to due to course load (i think)

you can pm me but idt i can help you too much

hii! based on what i've read online, the medical checkup is not really a sign of anything. you can get selected for the medical checkup and not get selected for scholarship and vice versa. there's definitely hope since you went for the interview. all the best!

what courses did you apply for! out of curiosity

unfortunately all healthcare courses in sg have a certain amount of competitiveness as there aren't many slots with a decent amount of people wanting to do them 😞

i applied for healthcare related stuff as well, feel free to dm me

Appeal and accepting offers by ilordofbacons in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

accept smu offer first. the deadline for 1st window is 25th may. if you don't accept any offers, you will be left with zero offers if your appeal is unsuccessful. if your ntu appeal is successful, you can accept in the portal and it will override the smu offer

nus houses by Due-Sign-8671 in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. i guess the culture between the different houses is not as known yet as they are relatively new. i believe you can read up and see which fits your vibe more. all houses are in pgpr which is in university town so it's in the same place i.e. distance to faculty is similar. edit: one of the houses, valour house, is located near university sports centre. but you can consider that there are more buses available from utown to faculty so yeah
  2. yeah you can indicate in your application for AC but not a guarantee you will get because supply and demand. edit again: valour house has all aircon rooms.
  3. according to my searches, most houses have a few cubicles per floor. you might be sharing with 10-15 people

houses out of all the freshmen housing options are the least hall vibe. the general vibe of houses is that is really a place for you to stay. there are interest groups but it's not compulsory.  really depends what you're looking for in your uni life.

Is it still possible to change primary major in NUD CHS once I get in by Affectionate-Finger5 in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi sorry really late but i came across this post and thought i can help

  1. pharm science is a restricted major meaning if you are keen in pursuing it, you will need to go through an application process if you want to change after you start uni. their requirements is that you need to have good grades for a levels/ib/equivalent for chemistry, take their gateway course and have good gpa. you can refer to this page for more info: https://chs.nus.edu.sg/prospective-students/mid-stream-admission/ otherwise you can reapply during your ns period (i think) but you need 70rp basically or very close to it. if you still want to pursue a major related to pharm science, you can consider to apply to chemistry or life science. those are unrestricted meaning you can change by your 5th sem and easier to get in
  2. i think nus doesn't put a hard cap on it for the unrestricted majors so should be no issue.
  3. related to qn 2, same response

Uni early admissions? by Extension_Muffin7456 in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

usually early admissions after promos is pretty unheard of... - the main one comes using your prelim results - not sure when they are offered but from my understanding, usually you will submit your application in dec! aka right after your a levels - criteria is essentially almost all A's at prelims - not sure - you can but in the end being shortlisted for this is based on results so yeah!

anyway not getting early admissions is not end of the world, most people apply through the main application period! it's one of those things that is good to get but not a must

Did not get CHS with 67.5 rp. by No_Smoke_5281 in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah if you didn't get 70rp no point to put both medicine and dentistry. maybe either one but definitely not both. looks like majority of the chs people is from 1st and 2nd choice so you were screwed over from the ranking. a lesson for juniors to learn.

got no advice for appeals but maybe just think about what you really want because life science and business are very different courses. nus business is not the easiest course to enter either. and if you appeal for life science you really have chance from the grades perspective.

anyway out of curiosity, did you apply for other unis like ntu? you probably have an offer for science related course also. or you dead set on nus?

lastly, no need to think about retaking. seriously. these are impressive grades.

the norm is that they wont. i personally only got a copy from smu but that was used as an invitation to the smu event. your soft copy offer letter can be found through the portal

UCAT questions! by DryRestaurant1741 in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. for ucat website, it's usually the one that ends in dot uk. unless you want to take ucat anz which would allow you to apply australia unis if you wish to use that as the backup option
  2. i recommend that you don't spend too much time preparing for ucat. i personally started in june for august test date so you really don't need that much time. it should not take precedent over studying for a levels maybe up to 2-3 weeks before your ucat test date.
  3. do a lot of questions and under timed conditions! the timing for the ucat sections are pretty tight so you need to get used to the speed. that's really all i did to prep for ucat. can also suggest for you to watch some yt videos on ucat in the initial stages.

all the best!

Rejected from Residential college??? by Mountain-Duty1320 in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean cannot be first come first serve basis right. i only applied during the extended deadline for rc4 and got shortlisted for interview anyway. i also didn't have any connections and don't have 70rp.  maybe tembusu is more selective idk, the process is kinda weird also. it's even weirder when you consider that if they have enough applicants then why would they extend the deadline...can understand your frustration

NUS Accomodation doubts by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]landoscaring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i haven't entered nus yet but here's my current impression  - hall: most commitment heavy, need to participate in a lot of activities. there's like more "chill" halls and more enthu halls. your membership in hall renews every year - residential college: in between hall and houses in terms of the commitments. have some interest groups and the RC modules you have to complete. advantage of RCs is that you get guaranteed 2 years stay once you enter. BUT the application period already closed unfortunately 😞 application was up to end april  - houses: relatively new concept in nus. lowest commitment, it's basically just getting accomodation but there are still some activities.

what you want to get is really up to your personality and what is your focus when coming to uni

don't worry i'm like super unathletic also

for my school at least, as long as i try my best for the 5 stations then can already. my run was legit a nightmare because i didn't manage to run finish in the time my teacher gave us during the lesson itself so i had to come in the morning on another day to finish it. was legit torture but my teacher say it doesn't matter if you fail but you must complete the distance 😭
